Follow my journey as I'm going through 2nd career change to become a PM / TPM (Technical Program Manager)💙| Software Engineer @ Microsoft Teams and ex-Lead Talent Sourcer @ Microsoft
How is my 2nd career change going? Well, not really much to share as there hasn't been really a huge progress comparing to the previous week. Overall, I had: - 3 informationals with Hiring Managers, but we didn't move to the interviewing stage (they were looking for more senior person or it was a vendor role), - still getting rejected after sending CVs - zero feedback as to why exactly, so I can only assume it's because they're looking for a "ready from day one" (a.k.a perfect candidate) or I'm based in the wrong location (the fact that I moved back to Poland might be a problem as we don't have a huge Engineering presence here comparing to how it was in Prague). ___ Stay tuned for next updates. #CareerChange #CareerChanger #BigTech #BigTechCareer #WomenInTech

Hiring Tip: Have a consistent cadence internally to discuss open positions and the timelines. This will ensure everyone is on the same page across various departments with what is open, a clear strategy on how to deliver on those roles and keeps everyone accountable to achieving the result.

Hiring is the single greatest lever in building capacity and non-linear growth. I made two hires last week--both offers for similar positions couldn't have been more different: 1. Veteran, expert, top 5% in talent/skills/knowledge/experience--Extreme value add in technicals [and a joyful culture]. 2. Brand new, fresh out of [still in] school, top 1% in energy/coachability/efficacy--Extreme value add in a joyful and curious culture [and soon instruction]. Both will move our needles across the board and build capacity throughout the instructional core and our joyful culture. Just at different times, ways, and entry points. Both are amazing additions and will serve our community well! Don't limit considered candidates to preconceived (and often biased) perceptions of fit and profile.

Hey all, Hope you all are doing great. As we are seeing several layoffs around us, a lot folks have reached out to me and asked if I can refer them to some of the roles at my company Lam Research. We are in an incredibly challenging job market, where many are struggling to find work and provide for their families. So, I decided to make this post and hopefully help people to get their career on track with my employer. Please note this is just an effort from my side to help the people in need. Please read this post carefully until the end. There are only two links involved, and you don't even have to DM me (though a connect request is appreciated so I can give you an update on the referral. I don't have premium LinkedIn.) 1. Check out the job posting link at Lam Research and see if there are any jobs you feel you have a good shot at. Collect two or three Job IDs and go to step 2. Portal link ---> https://lnkd.in/gBwGg375 2. Please fill out this Google form that I created for you. Google Form ---> https://lnkd.in/g6XbSN53 Note - DO NOT apply for the jobs yourself. You will receive a link to apply shortly after the referral. You must use the job portal link to find jobs as other platforms such as WayUp, Indeed, LinkedIn jobs, etc. do not have the most up-to-date data on the current jobs. A referral is not a guarantee. I cannot give anyone an interview or a job. I don't have that kind of power. I will help you to get in the systems, hoping to turn some heads at Lam Research. Some jobs are not available for a referral even if they are in the portal, and that could be because they might already be filled and linger around for a few weeks before being removed. Remember that this isn't a Mass referral. I don't hand it out like free candy. That defeats its purpose. I am going to disregard your request if you are highly unqualified (For example - Having one year of experience and asking for a referral for a Principal Engineer role ), if you're pivoting to a new field without any background whatsoever, or if you are a citizen of country X and applying for a job in country Y where sponsorship isn't available. Please read the job description from top to bottom before filling out the Google form. No one is perfect, but you must at least check a few boxes in the job description. As for the morality aspect of referrals - If I reserve the right to refer someone I know for decades or whom I worked with, then I would help about 10 people in my life and stop there. We live in a world where more and more people depend on each other, and I am just optimistic that people are in general, hardworking and I do not hesitate to vouch for most of them. You all are rockstars and are destined to great things. So, keep going at it even if you don't get a positive response. All the best and a very happy new year. Have a blessed year ahead. Best Regards, Akshay #jobsearch #referrals #semiconductorindustry #Lamresearch #helpinghand

Hot Topic: Backchanneling, acceptable or not? So you used to work at X and now you're hiring someone who is still at X. Hmm, backchannel this person and get some intel? A backchannel opens the door for their current company to know they are interviewing, when 99% of the time, they wouldn't want that to be known for obvious reasons. So it benefits you to backchannel to a degree, but potentially hurts them. Would love to know people's thoughts on this one. #backchanneling #hiring #interviewing #recruiting
