Why yes, I am trying to start a conversational fire 🔥🤭 Where are all my CIRCC Coders at? This question is for you! *rubs hands vigorously together* Here We GO! So if doing an intervention on a coronary artery, in the CPT it explicitly states the three situations in which a Diagnostic angiogram CAN BE SEPARATELY REPORTED with the intervention. One of these situations stating ‘No prior catheter based coronary angiography study is available, and a full diagnostic study is performed, AND a decision to intervene is based on the diagnostic angiography….. Let me type it out again ‘Decision to Intervene!’ Now here is my conundrum that I can’t seem to 100% find the answer on. Dr. Z states that Roadmapping is Not a Diagnostic Angiogram which I agree. But if the provider is NOT indicating anywhere in their report that the decision to intervene is based on their Diagnostic findings, then it’s all just RoadMapping correct?!? Thoughts? Facts? Opinions please!! I am pulling my hair out trying to understand these differences. TIA!!!!! And not the cerebral type. 😉
