Very excited for Blythe Meyers to rejoin the workforce today as she starts her new job at Catchy! Her old job, mother raising children and adult man, had no upward mobility and she worked with a bunch of a—holes, but she crushed it anyway. She’s going to kick ass for you Catchy, you lucky people.

So nice to catch up with an old friend! It's almost a decade since our paths last crossed and our careers have taken us in different directions but it was just like picking up where we left off. Adam Scott

Finding balance isn’t always easy, especially in full-time careers—which is why we believe in helping associates find harmony in their schedules. For Mora, an operations manager, making time for her kids and community is important. Outside of work, she serves on the leadership team in the local chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority and is a mother of two. Mora’s team at Capital One supports her in making time for her children, her volunteer work, and, importantly, herself. Discover how Capital One can support you in a career that makes time for your life. https://bit.ly/3NV1xqF

T.S. Eliot famously coined April the "cruelest month." Although his April takes a dark turn into a new cycle of sadness and lament, it evokes the imagery of spring's promise of life and the birth of possibility. As April approaches, so does my new journey into the unknown. It signals: ▶ My return from maternity leave to an unprecedented job market filled with mass layoffs, strikes, and the wide adoption of AI tools ▶ My return to a job market where thousands of qualified marketers are vying for the same opportunity ▶ A time of tension and unease ▶ A reminder to focus on my belief in a higher order and that there are no mistakes ▶ Gratitude for the opportunity to take six months off to bond with my third and last child ▶ The grace to focus on my mental and physical health and the gift of time with my family and friends ▶ The space to network with individuals and grow my tribe of like-minded and remarkable creatives ▶ The opportunity to lean into my professional, personal, and spiritual values I look forward to the next opportunity and excited to see where I'll land in April and beyond. If you see a job that might remind you of me, send it my way! Not sure who I am? Here's a little infographic that might help.

Sr. Program Manager (Release Train Engnieer) at Climate Corporation -- working toward hunger for none
Early in my career I was given a nickname by a co-worker whom I very much admire…”The Hammer.” I think I got that nickname for a couple of reasons: 1) I was adept at jumping into the middle of a project and leading it to a swift conclusion. Usually, it meant the project was quickly reimagined and then executed on. A few times we went directly to an execution. 2) I was not very subtle in my communication style. I truly did not understand why we had to spend 30 minutes talking around a question when you could say “No” in about 0.5 seconds. Then you can get to the interesting part of the conversation (what comes next) much quicker. The Hammer moniker followed me through several companies and many roles within them. In the past year+ I’ve noticed my inner-Hammer coming out more and more. It was like reconnecting with an old friend. It surprised me a bit because I hadn’t really noticed it being gone. Looking more closely, I discovered that as I moved through my career, The Hammer didn’t come out in each role I held. Why was I The Hammer at company X but not Y; why in role A but not B? The topic kept cycling back into my thoughts at odd times (driving across Nebraska) so I decided to try to sort it out (driving across Iowa). Somewhere between Omaha and Cedar Rapids, I had my little epiphany. My level of “Hammerness” is directly related to my level of engagement. I loved my years at Sitewerks in the mid/late 90’s. The people were amazing (fun and smarter than me in so many ways); the work was exciting; I learned so much; I felt that I could make a difference; I felt obligated to make a difference. I was fully engaged and The Hammer was lovin’ it. On the way home, crossing Minnesota, I reviewed all my career roles to date. What made them similar or different from that formative time at Sitewerks? Every time Hammer actions came out regularly, I was in a role that I really liked. When I was in a role that was not a good fit for me (reasons varied) The Hammer stayed home. It was a little tough for me to admit that I’ve been in roles where I was disengaged; but it was the glaring truth so I couldn’t pretend otherwise or waste more time looking for nuance. So, what do I do with this realization? I am a very visual person and I value symbolism. So, I bought myself a very cool looking hammer and hung it on the wall next to my desk. It is a reminder to me of what my engagement looks like. I also asked myself a new question. If the Hammer comes out when I am engaged in my work, can I flip that around? How much energy would it take to force out the Hammer to become more engaged? That will be an interesting process of discovery…to be continued.

Rohit A simple but powerful picture , which speaks volumes about Loyalty is Dead! Long Live Loyalty!! A lesson, which none of us should forget that in these transactional times, the true differentiation comes from a relationship card built on empathy, trust, respect, providing flexible choices and never ending enriching experiences, which prevents any kind of engagement from becoming stale and instead keeps the relevancy quotient alive. This applies not only to the powerful story showcased by you on the impact of enduring effective #culture in #unilever build on strong foundations of #stewardleadership BUT also extends to the interconnected #ecosystems of key stakeholders such as customers, suppliers, partners along the #supplychain.

It was not built in a day! Since joining HUL, I have been part of incredible teams and worked with amazing people. Now and then, I meet my teams and people, and though it feels like it's been ages, the emotion of reconnecting lingers. Recently, I had the joy of reliving a memory from about 25 years ago when I felicitated our employee, Elangovan Thavasunathan, again; this time, it was to celebrate his significant and enduring service with HUL. There's nothing more satisfying than working with a group of people and, together, creating something that's bigger than all of us. It fuels passion and excellence, and Elangovan's long-term service is a testament to this.

Financial advisor/Helping business owners, individuals and families in Fortune 500 companies (Oneok, Williams, Microsoft etc.)
Happy Tuesday after labor day! As we celebrated labor day yesterday, I spent a few hours studying and had 2 client meetings. So, a busy day. Did working on a holiday feel like a burden for me? No. Why? I am not sure... Maybe because i was away from the chaos of the kids...😂 Just kidding. I love our children. I think i am in a career that fits me (personality, strengths, skills, knowledge, Goals, aspirations, weaknesses...). I love the work that we do, the people we work with, the clients we serve and the company that we represent. Probably makes things feel light although difficult. How do you experience your work? Does it feel like a burden? Have you embraced work as an integral and good part of your life? What does work mean to you? On my journey to this career, I read a book that Mike McCann offered me titled: 'What color is your parachute' (no publicity intended) that helped me identify what kind of work would suit me best. You might want to check it out.
