About the role We are looking for a talented Senior Content Marketing Manager to expand our company's digital footprint, awareness, subscribers and leads. As part of the Boltive marketing team, your role is to implement B2B content marketing strategies through a variety of digital and traditional platforms across four businesses. We're looking for a passionate content marketer who loves collaborating with a team to come up with fresh ideas as well as who loves the details and can manage projects from beginning to end. Social media roles need to stop being treated like a one-size-fits-all position. I’ve recently seen an increase in job posts that look more like a “wish list” rather than a strategic hire for an organization. So many businesses still expect a single social media professional to fulfill multiple roles…This shouldn’t be the case. Is it because they don’t understand? Do they not know what they need? I’m not sure. 👉 But a single social media person can not be a:  - Strategist - Content Writer - Graphic Designer / Videographer - Community Manager - Paid Advertising Specialist - Social Monitoring & Listening Expert - Customer Service Representative - Data Analyst - Campaign Manager  - Influencer & Partner Marketing Coordinator… and so on. PLUS also be expected to be proficient across ALL social platforms. 🤯 It's crazy that this is even expected! Now don’t get me wrong - I love seeing the role of social media evolving within organizations. ❗ But just a quick reminder to my marketing leaders out there: Before posting your next social media role, narrowing down your job description is essential if you want to find the right talent. Here are a few things to keep in mind.. consider how this role will: 1️⃣ Align with our overarching marketing strategy and objectives. 2️⃣ Contribute to the organization's growth. 3️⃣ Collaborate with internal teams. 4️⃣ Enhance your presence on platforms *relevant* to your business. Social media roles need to be viewed through the lens of impact - not merely checking boxes. Agree or disagree? What am I missing?

For those of you who haven't heard of us, we're a marketing consulting firm, typically brought in by PE firms to help their portfolio companies develop their marketing strategy. The first role is more junior. You'd be working on marketing HtS as a company with Kate Hawkes and Gordon Cheng, focusing on our social media presence + podcast promotion and outreach: https://lnkd.in/dnkixB8T The second role is externally focused, and part of the team I'm on / I still do some of this work, and would be training you on how to do it instead. You'd be working with clients to develop their content marketing strategy as a part of the larger marketing strategy we recommend: https://lnkd.in/djZqEmU3 The most important thing to note about this role is that we're not an agency, so it's not about writing all the content — it's more about doing detective work to figure out what a company is currently doing + what they should be doing instead 🕵🏼♀️ I'm not the hiring manager for either role, but I would be part of the interview process for the second/we'd be working together very closely if you were hired, so can definitely give a lot more context on the pros and cons of that role in particular if desired!

If you're a product brand and your total budget for social and content production is less than $5k/month, here's my biggest piece of advice .... Consider whether hiring in house is the right move 🤔 At this budget, you'll be limited to hiring a junior social media coordinator. If they're the only social media team member, here's what their JD will have to include: 👉 social strategy 👉 content schedule 👉 copywriting 👉 community management 👉 outbound engagement 👉 influencer/creator outreach/coordination 👉 content production (photo/video) 👉 video editing 👉 reporting on and evaluating analytics 👉 strategy refinement/adjustments Typically, they'll have less than 3 years experience which likely don't cover all responsibilities listed above. They likely don't have an extensive portfolio of building product brands on social. If social growth is a significant part of your marketing strategy (which it should be), putting it in the hands of a junior hire is a risky move and unlikely to turn the results you're hoping for. Once your social budget exceeds $20k-$25k per month, consider building an in-house social team if that's your goal. Inserting fractional support into your team in those building stages is an excellent way to get experienced people on your team with a fraction of the budget required.
