News flash 📸 Last week the Melbourne volunteers Sadam ahmed and Jo Ioannidis 🧬 had a coffee catch up ; it was a delightful sunny Autumn afternoon. 🍁🍂🍃 For those of you that don’t know Sadam’s story, it is shared here below : Sadam Ahmed was two and a half the last time he saw a tree, or looked at the sky. Then darkness. But he still aims for the moon. Born into a refugee camp in Somalia, Sadam was dealt a difficult hand from day one. His world was scarred by violence and persecution. Sadam fell ill. His mother carried him for days, but he slipped into a coma that lasted two years. When he awoke the doctors believed it was a miracle; Sadam however had been robbed of his sight. Given that hand dealt, many players would have folded. Not Sadam. “I had two choices – go into the darkness or fight it,” he says. It was a stark choice – but as his mother told him; “If you reach for the sky you may reach the moon.” Sadam is looking for a career home as a QA tester. He can also offer his advisory services through his consulting business, accessibility solutions. Do you have an opportunity you wish to discuss with Sadam? Let us know in the comments or share this post with someone hiring. Jobs for Humanity To listen to his interview from 2 years ago click below: https://lnkd.in/g5X6uMSQ

Imagine a just world where everyone could thrive through the work that they do. Jobs for Humanity is a volunteer led Global Movement all about helping those who come from underrepresented backgrounds to find meaningful work. Our Northern Star is based on the agreement in 2015, where world leaders created 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with a promise to revisit progress in 2030. Our goal is to become a leading contributor to the SDG 8 for Quality, inclusive, and sustainable work for all. We would like to reintroduce this interview series which is all about amplifying the career stories of our wonderful volunteers helping with this mission. Career Stories are inspiring. They teach us something about the decisions, outcomes and missions of people. Sadam Ahmed is one of the wonderful volunteers with us in the Aussie division and is the Managing Director and trainer of Accessible Technology Solutions. His story is one to be told and understood so we can learn about what we can do to ease the working world for Blind or Low Vision people. We are honoured to have him as part of our team – teaching us about the challenges one faces in both job searching and working. Whether you will be watching live or on the replay, I am certain that you will join Jo McCatty in giving Sadam a big warm welcome. We look forward to sharing this beautiful story. See you this Thursday on the live #restream. For information on us - get in touch via https://lnkd.in/gfQK8awy
