Senior Director of Policy at Reddit, Inc.

We released the latest edition of the Reddit Transparency Report yesterday, which I will unabashedly say is the best in the business. In addition to information about enforcement of Reddit's rules and policies, it also includes details about the various government demands that we receive from around the world. We routinely fight to ensure that affected users are notified of these requests in accordance with their rights. In one notable U.S. request, we were served with a sealed search warrant from the LAPD seeking records for an account allegedly involved in the leak of an LA City Council meeting recording that resulted in the resignation of prominent local political leaders. We fought to notify the account holder about the warrant, and while we didn’t prevail initially, we persisted and were eventually able to get the warrant and proceedings unsealed and provide notice to the redditor in a win for transparency and openness. This report is excellent. Great education for anyone.

The genius of Reddit: "Content moderation on Reddit happens through a layered, community-driven approach. This approach is akin to a democracy, wherein everyone has the ability to vote and self-organize, follow a set of common rules, establish community-specific norms, and ultimately share some responsibility for how the platform works."

I'm a fan of Reddit generally, so it doesn't surprise me that Reddit has taken the model of transparency reporting and improved upon it.
