Grateful for the opportunity to testify yesterday before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence about foreign threats to our elections. Sharing my opening statement here: https://lnkd.in/eaJfENqe?. For those who may be skeptical about the security of our elections, I recommend you consider serving as a poll worker or an observer, and if you have any specific questions, please speak with your local election official—they are the authoritative subject matter experts when it comes to elections. As a poll manager, I find it disappointing the ignorance and lies some voters openly express. Especially when the voting outcomes align with the demographics in the districts.

Might be nice for: * voter identification (SSN?) * national guard assistance * certified vote counters (USPS?) * paper ballots * non-hackable interfaces? https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/online-vulnerable-experts-find-nearly-three-dozen-u-s-voting-n1112436

Thank you for sharing the significant efforts made to provide assurance of the election processes and technology. There was always noise because some disgruntled individuals were not happy with the outcome and tried to stir misinformation and divide among people What it is evident and worrisome is the resignation of seasoned election officials as this shows there is an impact from those forces trying to interfere in the election process. The government must take this threat seriously and provide support to the officials to feel safe and empowered to do their jobs and ensure new ones feel the same and also they abide by the same principles of their predecessors.

Paper ballots. 100% scanned in ID check. Absolutely no connections to the Internet. All updates must be performed manually with physical access to the machine. Voting machine companies must be US based entities with absolutely no foreign investors and all Executives must be US Citizens. Jen Easterly

What about the threat to the information environment leading up to the elections? You don’t need to compromise voting machines when you can hack American brains. I wonder if what has been unfolding on campuses across America isn’t just a dress rehearsal.

If we just did what Estonia has done for almost 20 years we wouldn’t be having this discussion. https://e-estonia.com/how-did-estonia-carry-out-the-worlds-first-mostly-online-national-elections/

To influence elections, third parties would use our own tools against us. Especially social media, leveraging the “rabbit hole” algorithms to push their agenda. Which is not a hack, breach, per say, in it of itself. This topic is one that Americans would benefit from hearing.

Thank you for your efforts on this given the political climate we’re all in.

Excellent thoughts and suggestions Director. "The time has come for all good Americans to come to the aid of their country" Thank you for making the call to action. Now more than ever we must be aware of the need for security of our citizens and country.
