While it may seem like an appealing strategy at first, I believe there are strong reasons why organizations should avoid paying fundraisers a commission. “If I had lots of money I’d give it to us” 💰 This was such a great quote from one of the CEOs I work with, and I think it captures the exact energy we want to bring into a pitch. We need to be totally connected to our impact and the people we serve. We need to have clarity about where we are going and why money will help get us there. 🎯 Can you imagine the difference in how you will pitch your organisation if that is the case for you? 🤔 Or how it will harm your pitch if it isn't how you feel? And what if you don’t feel like that about your organisation? A couple of ideas for how to develop this feeling: Connection: Book yourself in for some time on site or visiting one of your programmes to get deeply connected to the people you serve. 🤝 Clarity: Spend time mapping out and being clear about where the organisation/your programme is going in the next year. Get excited about the future rather than being stuck in the present. 🌈 And if you still aren’t feeling it, think about what needs to change internally to make your organisation the kind of organisation that you would want to give money to.
