SUCCESSION CRISIS IN ARBORICULTURE MEETING The Association has long been concerned about the succession crisis in arboriculture. How do we identify the next generation of arboriculturists, including those starting out in employment and those seeking a career change? Read here: https://lnkd.in/eREFsA9V

It's good to see the Arb Association creating a meeting to chat about the staffing issues within arboriculture but the cause isn't difficult to understand, it's salaries. As an industry arboriculture has little public status and workers are seen as little more than glorified gardeners. Until the industry gains some professional status in the U.K. and true arborists are recognised for their training and skills there will always be a difficulty attracting and retaining people in the industry. Entry to the industry shouldn't be as easy as buying a chainsaw and a pickup with some sign writing, yes as far as the public are concerned that constitutes a "Tree Surgeon" . Is it any wonder the industry has high staff attrition when staff can often get more money working in a supermarket than in tree work? It's frightening to see some Colleges offering to pay lecturers little more than minimum wage to train future arborists! Just my opinion based on twenty four years recruiting for the industry what are your thoughts?

Experienced leader | Passionate about helping clients and connections optimize all areas of operations
My cat is constantly bringing me all kinds of dead birds, lizards, and other small animals he finds to torture. Sometimes single handedly keeping the invasive duck population around my house to a limit. Little did I know that he wasn't doing this because he was proud of what he caught, but because he was taking pity on me. It has been proven that cats do this act with their owners not because they like to show off, but because they think you are a bad hunter and feel that you could use a break in failing to kill your own birds and lizards. True love in cat language 🤣 . Though kitty may think our hunting skills are subpar, I would like to bring the skill of being a hunter in sales to the forefront. Sales careers can branch out to take many forms, but in most cases you start out in some form of hunting. Hunting for sales big and small can be a tough endeavor, but there are always those select reps who find a true talent for it and can make an entire career out of it. It is not the easiest thing in the world to cold call a billion dollar company, strike up a conversation with a director out of the blue, and build the rapport needed to move a deal to the next stage. Cheers to all the true hunters out there! The new business you bring to your organization is invaluable, and just like a cat, nothing beats bringing home a freshly signed deal to present to your company who has trouble bringing in new opportunities without you! #saleslife

Sales execs should hire hunters. Why? Here is a few reasons... - The best hunters are experts of what they are hunting. They know the answers to the questions below. 1. What do they eat and drink? Where? When? 2. Why are they traveling? Where are they going? How will they get there? 3. What is the daily routine of the animal? 4. What scares them away? Loud noises? Different smells? Different colors? 5. What do they enjoy doing? - They respect nature and the laws that come with it. - They understand persistence + strategy is key. - They understand the world is bigger than them and their problems. - They understand their strengths and lean into them - They understand patience and the long game. I haven't been a salesperson long and I have only been hunting once 😂 but from what I have seen so far, the worlds are incredibly aligned. Deer do not just run right towards a bumbling, irritating, loud, obnoxious, clueless hunter. It seems...deals do not either. How have you found success on your hunt?

I train Recruiters & HRTech Machines. 10K+ Recruiters Upskilled | 4K+ Recruiters Assessed | 1M Sourcing data points trained
Here is a story of two groups of FISHERMEN, a story for every Recruiter/TA leader/Trainer. Regular Fishermen : These people catch the regular fishes for daily human consumption, they dont go deep into the ocean, but they do what is required to catch fishes for daily consumption. The Hunters : This is a small group of fishermen, who hunts wild or rare fishes and they tend to go deep into the ocean. The hunters group, keeps glamourizing how they are the best coz they are wild hunters. Their skill of hunting from the deep ocean and spotting the rare fishes is the best skill. The regular fishermen group, keeps getting enticed looking at the hunters group. They feel their job is boring, nothing intriguing to do. Also the heads of these regular fishermen, "who do not go for fishing anymore" tend to think the hunters group are the best, they're doing something unique and our regular fishermen needs to be trained on the same skills as the hunters group. Do you think, it is a right idea to get the regular fishermen trained on hunting the rare species? Do the regular fishermen have all their skills covered for their regular job & there is nothing left for them to learn within their arena? Ok hang on, I can already sense your mind voice. "kehna kya chahhte ho, Ashfaq Miyan?" (What are you trying to say, Ashfaq?) Now, connect this to the story of regular recruiters vs the hunters. The hunters group keeps glamourizing how learning the internet sourcing/learning how to hunt down someone from the web is such an amazing thing to do. And, all the regular recruiters who dont even need that skill for their 99% of hiring get enticed by this and everyone feels, they should be an internet sourcer or they'd be left behind. Just like the regular fishermen, do you (Recruiters) think there is nothing new learn in your arena? Why not test your skills & measure where you stand? check out : quiz.recruitingmonk.com After assessing 4K+ Recruiters & training 10K+, I can tell you that recruiters miss 10-20% data on Naukri (Job board) & 30-50% on platforms like Linkedin. More importantly, Recruiters do not know what is "Structured Sourcing" (A methodology of approaching sourcing with data principles in mind) The hunters group is always a smaller group, their focus is different. Every Recruiter/Sourcer need not be a wild hunter. The gist of the story is, focus/try to sharpen your day-day recruiting skills not those skills which comes handy once a bluemoon. Thoughts, how's the story? What's your take away from the story? #recruitingmonk #674 P.S : Join the upcoming batch 12 of mini diploma for experienced TA. A 50 hours long mentoring program, for details ping Yaswanth Lohar Veeravalli or check out : https://bit.ly/minidip
