Confession: I watch almost all informational videos at 1.5x speed (and sometimes 1.75x). There's more info to process in our lives, and our brains are adapting to a higher "bit rate" of life. I'm excited that tomorrow as part of a big release, we will release this small but personal feature - speed control - to let viewers watch faster. Not earth shattering. It's been buried in our roadmap for a long time. But it's never been as important as it has become now. I do watch entertainment videos at normal speed. Fact is 👟 faster than fiction.

In a recent interview, Obsidian Entertainment's Josh Sawyer said that he would only be interested in making Pillars of Eternity 3 if it had a budget comparable to that of Baldur's Gate 3. Sawyer said that he believes that Pillars of Eternity 3 could be a great game, but that it would need a significant financial investment to be truly successful. One of the biggest pleasures of my job is also one of my biggest frustrations. Over the last decade, many of Explosive Alan Productions' clients have asked us to produce incredibly exciting written and filmed content, with one crucial caveat: we can't share it with anyone. 🤐 Some of the biggest names, not only in gaming, but also in toy production, manufacturing, technology and pharmaceutical, have trusted us to produce confidential work intended for internal or small, private audiences only. We have conceived, scripted, coordinated, filmed, voiced and post-produced content like: - Internal comms pieces - Product beta testing - Audience focus testing - Tone of voice documents - World-building documents - Pitch videos - Awards shows - Training videos - Internal + partner-facing sizzles and showreels What we share publicly represents a fraction of our output (and a sizeable one, at that), so I wanted to make it known that we're capable of doing so much more than you might expect. Regardless of whether it's for an audience of one, or an audience of millions, we put the same amount of craft and care into our work. That's the Explosive Alan difference. 💖 If you'd like to talk about any projects, public-facing or otherwise, that we can help with, contact me here, or visit https://lnkd.in/dG_qRnK3. 📧 #video #videoproduction #trustedpartner #internalcomms

We talk a lot about "losing the plot." But I'm interested in the themes. What's it all about? What's the why of the mission? The what is a result. I've been locked in to Shogun (on Hulu). The plot you think you're engaged in is subsidiary to the ideas; it's totally secondary to what it's all about. It doesn't matter who wins. It matters very much why they win. And why they tried. It doesn't matter who lives and dies. It matters very much what their life is about. What they died for. And unlike plot-driven work, those questions are still left deeply inconclusive. As if the themes are conversations and not messages. If y'all asked me "what happened?" Boy, I don't know. So much. As a creative, these ten chapters were conflicting and enlightening and profound and moving. There's so much to learn about how we all tell our stories. And what the actual stories are that we're telling. This one's incredible.

Here's a short snippet from a live TV Interview I gave a few years back to help promote a Documentary series I had Produced. The key take away, aside from my obvious passion is that creativity is all around us, and ideas can be found in the fabric of our everyday lives. Don't underestimate the power of the mundane and ordinary, it can often lead to extraordinary things. It's easy to believe that we're either born creative or not, but our childhood experiences tell a different story. We all had creative energy flowing through us, whether it was through imaginative play, making up games in the playground, or finding creative solutions. So, give yourself self the opportunity to shed off those years and let the creative inside come out to play! Remember, creativity matters and passion is key. #creativitymatters #passion

Case of the day: Sparked by a conversation started by Avinash Kaushik, I wanted to share one of my all-time favorite cases. Exhausted by clients demanding secret ways to reach Gen Z, we wanted to know if there was a stronger thread that connected people than the year they were born. Was there a way of defining a group as large as demo (or larger), but united by something besides age cohort. We defined two broad mindsets: Expansive: emotional, inspiration-seeking, poetic Focused: task-oriented, logical, solution-seeking Then we invented a travel brand called Wonder Pilot and wrote ads to connect to these mindsets. Did it work? You'll have to watch the video to find out: https://lnkd.in/e8h_spGu And the lovely creative (and great experiment) was made by Noël Paasch #upstream
