As a proud member of the #businessaviation industry, I feel compelled to address the recent protests that took place during #EBACE last week. These protests, fueled by misconceptions about our industry, overlook the remarkable strides we have made towards #sustainability, a greener future, and the increased utilization of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). It is crucial to acknowledge the significant progress we have achieved in recent years in terms of sustainability and SAF adoption. Contrary to the claims made during the protests, business aviation is actually at the forefront of efforts to reduce our carbon footprint and mitigate environmental impact. One of our industry's most significant achievements in the pursuit of sustainability is its commitment to the development and utilization of #SAF. Organizations throughout the business aviation sector are actively encouraging or are themselves participating in research and development to make SAF more accessible and economically viable. SAF is a game-changer, as it can reduce net carbon emissions by up to 80% compared to conventional jet fuel. We are dedicating substantial resources to develop SAF infrastructure and create a sustainable #supplychain, ensuring its widespread adoption, and call on all stakeholders, including governments, to do their part in scaling up SAF production and availability. Furthermore, we have long embraced technological advancements to enhance efficiency and minimize emissions. From designing and manufacturing more fuel-efficient aircraft to implementing innovative air traffic management systems, we continually strive to improve our environmental performance. Exploring the integration of electric and hybrid aircraft because they will first be used in general and business aviation is another promising avenue, aiming to further reduce emissions and noise pollution. In conclusion, the recent protests at EBACE fail to recognize the remarkable progress made by business aviation towards sustainability. MEBAA, alongside other industry associations, remains fully committed to continuously improving our environmental performance.
