I'm probably going to regret this, but I'm posting anyway. My team has an open position. Yes, we are hiring. 1 position due to team growth. Remote: no Level: SR - not negotiable. This is not a case of "if they like you they will down level for you". I seriously, and I mean seriously, do not have the capacity to bring in someone less than SR right now. It wouldn't be fair to you, me, or the team. Leetcode Interview: no. Take home project: yes, I have to make sure you can code. It's small, and if you're really SR you can do it in very little time. Is your take home solving a problem you're stuck on? Nope, it's a slimmed down version of a problem I solved long ago. Again, just checking your abilities without the pressure of live coding. My team is 3 people. We're cool. We're chill. We don't do things in the traditional corporate way or FAANG way. We do what works for us. We make jokes, use emojis and giphys, and have fun. We have code standards we enforce, we don't nit pick PRs, and we move quick. Lightning quick. We work with each other, not against each other. No toxicity. Do not send me your resumes. See that part above about capacity. I do not have time to check messages constantly and pass along your resumes. Apply at the link.

Software Engineer | Emerging Leader | Strategic Leader | Lifelong Learner | Collaborative Team Player
James Mahy's Guide for Junior Developers: Details Matter! 🚀👨💻 🌟 Recently, James Mahy, shared invaluable advice for junior developers. His insights are a must-read for anyone aiming to impress in the tech world. 🔍 The Essence of Coding Excellence: James emphasizes the significance of attention to detail in coding. It's not about the size or complexity of the project but how well you handle the finer points. 💡 Key Questions for Every Developer: - What problem does your code solve? - Who benefits from your solution? - Is your code testable, functional, and well-documented? - Are your commit messages clear and meaningful? 🛠️ Tips for Junior Developers: 1. Focus on Quality, Not Quantity: Build small, well-thought-out projects. 2. Detail-Oriented Approach: Ensure your code is clean, well-structured, and easy to understand. 3. Documentation Matters: Include clear instructions and meaningful documentation. 4. Solve Real Problems: Create solutions that address specific needs. 🎯 Stand Out to Hiring Managers: Remember, what impresses technical hiring managers is the quality and thoughtfulness of your work, not just the scale. 🌐 Beyond Coding: While networking, social media presence, and CVs are important, never underestimate the power of well-crafted code. 🚀 Final Thought: As James says, "Think about what you're doing, don't just sh.. out code." This mindset can set you apart as a junior developer. #JuniorDeveloper #CodingExcellence #TechTips #AttentionToDetail #SoftwareDevelopment
Dear Junior Developers, Building a netflix / uber clone or task list is a good learning experience for the most part, the only companies you'll stand out to are non-technical hiring managers. If you really want to stand out to technical hiring managers / tech leads, concentrate on what you're building - attention to detail. Whenever I encounter other people's code, I don't care if it's a huge piece of software. I care about the attention to details. ✅ What does it solve? ✅ Who's problem are you solving? ✅ Is it testable? ✅ Is it functional? ✅ Are there appropriate instructions to run / debug / deploy? ✅ Are there any obvious issues? ✅ Is the code structured in a clean and consistent way (per file and folders)? ✅ Are variables, methods and classes meaningful with descriptive names? ✅ Is there any appropriate documentation? ✅ Are commit messages useful and meaningful? Many of you will put time and energy in to blogs, branding, social media, networking even your CV's, but very few put much thought in to the code they're presenting to others and how it's seen. Build something small and simple that meets most of that criteria. If I were hiring a Junior developer - that's what would stand out to me. Think about what you're doing, don't just sh** out code. #developerlife #juniordeveloper
