SELF-CARE vs Hustle Culture. Marie Forleo is one of the entrepreneurs that is raising the awareness of the importance of self-care and less of the hustle culture. Women and minorities have to work so much more to succeed in business however we must take care of ourselves along the journey. THIS WEEK I JUST DID IT. I was diagnosed with COVID last Sunday and I am recovering. There is an pressure to go back to the long hours of work immediately however I am going to listen to sound advice… get back gradually. A stroll around the dead An afternoon walk in the cemetery with pink skies as the background, don't you just love it? Some people dread the cemetery. I found it to be an interesting place even though there were many stories of "Tuyul", "Pocong" and various forms of afterlife during my childhood. In Malay traditions, there's even a story of "Hantu Tetek"... Hilarious actually. Death is nothing to be scared of. It's the end for every one of us. I don't look forward to it as I would hate to get my family to be sad. I first walked around the iconic Melbourne General Cemetery grounds before the school holidays a couple of weeks ago. Just before school starts again on Monday, I thought it would be interesting to get the kids to have a look around as well. It was interesting how the kids quickly figured out which tombs belong to the wealthy. Things that ran through my lively brain as I read through the different writings on the tombstones: - Death is final, you can plan for it (if you want), but don't be scared - I prefer to leave as little legacy as possible, but I want to make an impact as long as I am still breathing - Love your family - Death may not do people part as there are many couples buried next to each other - Use your fear as fuel for your curiosity or something positive. Fear is normal, but use it constructively rather than let it overcome you - Be kind and help others - You can only control certain things after death using a will - Visiting the cemetery has different meanings in different cultures. The Qingming festival is a bit like a picnic in the cemetery, without any sadness. - I hope the world can manage its population as people are dying much older now. Such is progress. - Life is beautiful such as the pink sky. Live it I think we can learn from anything, even where people rest and decompose. That learning stops when we die.
