Have you ever found yourself trying to accelerate while seated on your bike and you just are missing the power needed? This could be trying to close a gap in the peloton at high speed, getting back on the wheel in front of you out of a turn, following a pace change on a climb, or even trying to attack away from another rider on the flats. It could be you are not optimizing your technique. A change in position of your core can unlock new seated power. In this video we show you a technique we call “Seated Acceleration.” This is built around shifting your core forward on the seated during the moment you are accelerating. This position change is to unlock new efficiency with your pedal stroke and create easier access to more muscle groups when applying a sudden increase of power. Visceral Feeling Protocol We got a Peloton last December and I'm loving it. There is a certain visceral feeling when I push for a PR. My nervous system is being jolted. When I reached the upper threshold of the sensation (10 out of 10 in difficulty), I would take the resistance off and glide for about 30 seconds and then I would be ready to push again. This mini break allowed me to push past the output I was at before the break. Its just what I needed to push past the threshold. I was surprised to realize that the visceral feeling is the same as when I am in a conversation or meeting and feel a high level of anxiety either because the stakes are high or I am unsure on how to proceed. Different situations, same feeling. I decided to use the Peloton mini break strategy and took a breath, exhaled slowly, listened to what was being said between the lines, observed body language, and this allowed me to see the situation holistically.
