Hello Network! As the dust begins to settle on Cisco's recent round of layoffs, I'd like to announce that my team was eliminated and that I am back on the market looking for my next role/team. Cisco has been tremendous over the last 3 years, and what has made the role even better is the many unique partners I worked with. Watching them grow to serve our customers and helping them however I can has become more of a passion than I ever thought it would. Highlights: 1.) Building a top tier Sales Acceleration Program for a strategic segment to Cisco, and watching it work! Maverick has been a tremendous labor of love for our team and has left behind a high bar. 2.) Working closely with a handful of hyper-growth partners (consecutive years of triple-digit growth) and getting to hold onto a bit of the 'startup' mentality I was raised on, with the backing of a global manufacturing superpower. 3.) Getting to work with not one, but TWO of the hardest working teams in my career, and seeing them tackle adversity and punch above their weight time after time! As I have learned over the last few years, the industry is much smaller than it seems, and after a couple weeks of relaxation and vacation, I am beginning my journey to find a new home working to connect partners and vendors in a strategically significant manner. My heart breaks for those folks going through layoffs, Cisco, or anyone being laid off. It especially hits me hard as I am a former Cisco employee, and just reading about it or seeing posts from people gives me a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach, even though it has been a long time since I worked there. Everyone hates it, including management and HR. The waiting is SO hard, especially if your manager has not told you are safe in advance. You can't focus on anything else, and who can blame you? Use whatever safe coping mechanism you have to handle this period. Keep these things in mind if you get notified: This is not about you. You are caught up in a more significant dynamic problem that is out of your control. The only thing you can control is your reaction to it and how you will handle the emotions. Call your people right away and tell them what happened. Get your outside support network started right away. If you are laid off, look at the Five Stages Of The Grief Process if you have not seen it recently or have never seen it and realize you will be going through this process. I posted it below. Last one, remember never worry alone. Talk to your network and make sure you have plenty of people to help you along the way. It gets better it really does.
