Great advice about integrating climbing into your rec center facility from Molly Smeltzer of the Lake Nona Performance Club: “Define who your target audience will be and plan accordingly. If you’re focused on members of the recreation center only, come up with how climbing integrates with the rest of the center. This will inform how large of a space you may need. If you are planning on attracting people outside of the recreation center, plan to make yourself available for them by looking at climbing wall trends in open hours, rates, possible separate entrances, room for specific training for climbers, and a separate birthday/special event/team training area.” https://lnkd.in/gmma3eHW

IMPORTANT - CBRE Lantau 2 Peaks - season opener in Hong Kong. Start Training Early: Give yourself enough time to build up your endurance and strength. Don't save it until last minute as this course is hard. Familiarize Yourself with the Course: Study the route and terrain of the CBRE Lantau 2 Peaks Trail Race. Plan recces and get out there and feel elevation changes, technical sections and what it does to you. Practice Hill Training: Lantau Peak and Sunset Peak are known for their steep ascents and descents. Include hill repeats and stair workouts in your training as we know many of you are from other countries and don't realize what these 2 peaks are like and in hot temperatures around 30c as extremely tough if not prepared. Strengthen Your Core and Stability: Trail running requires stability and balance. Incorporate exercises that target your core muscles and improve your overall stability, such as planks, side planks, single-leg exercises, and balance drills. Test Your Gear and Hydration Strategy: Don't wait until race day, test out your trail running shoes, socks, clothing, and any other gear you plan to use. Just a friendly reminder as speak to anyone who has completed this race and most will say they wish they did more training over the summer. Good luck! https://lnkd.in/g-2be5sC #Lantau2Peaks #L2P #training #preparation #seasonopener

Meet Sophea Lim, Caddy Master at Vattanac Golf Resort, Phnom Penh Cambodia. Sophia is honored this month for the Troon Value: Genuinely Meticulous. She takes care in preparing her team and their guests to ensure daily success. Q: How did you get into golf/become a caddy? A: I have always enjoyed different sports like volleyball and I noticed on social media that there was a job opportunity at Vattanac Golf Resort, so I was naturally interested and saw it as a good opportunity to involve sport in my career. Q: How do you inspire other women to become a Caddy or Caddy Master? A: I like to explain the opportunities available to them when working at Vattanac Golf Resort, and how the training program will help them achieve their personal and professional goals. Many Caddies do not feel like they have many opportunities in life, so I like to show them that there is always room for career development regardless of their background. Q: This month, we celebrate Wellness, both for our associates and our guests. Caddying can be quite physical work; what are some stretches or exercises that you recommend for your caddies to do before starting a round with the guests? A: We encourage the team to stretch their legs before and after the round; it can make all the difference! Q: If a guest were to say to you, I only have 10 mins to warm up before my round, what do you recommend I do to warm up? A: I would say the most effective warm-up in a short time would be to get the body moving, and into similar positions that they need to achieve on the course. A few swings with 2 or 3 clubs together helps get the hips, arms and torso moving. If there are a few extra minutes, I would always recommend a short chipping session around the green to build some confidence before heading to the 1st tee.
