Dear H&M leadership team, My daughter, who is a rising sophomore at Penn State University, was shopping at your Tyson’s Mall location yesterday to purchase clothes for her summer internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital when she was racially profiled and falsely accused of using stolen gift cards. The store team called the mall police, and ten police quickly surrounded her as she was questioned in front of your store. My daughter has two receipts to show that she spent over $1200 in your store and was treated like a criminal because of the color of her skin. I am thankful that we raised her to respect police officers and to always comply in the moment and complain later because things could have potentially escalated and turned out differently for her. I am on a red-eye from Seattle, and I will be visiting this location at 10 AM to discuss this with your store manager and the detective who confiscated two $20 gift cards that her grandmother and aunt gave her for Christmas. I have contacted a few local leaders in hopes that someone will call me in the morning to resolve this extremely disappointing situation. Sincerely, Lucious Mcdaniel III

I gotta be straightforward. I have experienced transphobia on numerous occasions and little has been done to combat it or stop it. I have reported each incident and yet it still continues to happen 😔
