The evidence is there: the #adtech #layoffs have affected more than 160k people but some, have been disproportionally impacted: 🎯 The ongoing tech layoffs are impacting women at a much higher rate than men, with women 65% more likely to lose their jobs than men, according to recent research by talent intelligence platform Eightfold 🎯 these layoffs have had a disproportionate impact on #women, people of color, and people in the United States on H1-B visas. Overall, these layoffs are a body blow to #diversity in tech, not just slowing but actually reversing hard-won gains, says stackoverflow.blog. I could go on like this, but you get the idea. My good friend Nickie Smith, ACC and I decided to create the Bold Collective: a #community for women to #recharge, #retool, and #support each other. We exchange ideas, meet every other week and generous guests join us to share their wisdom: from regaining confidence, improving personal branding, using AI for job search, or nailing interviews! Since we launched last March, we’ve held 7 sessions with fantastic guests from Google, DocuSign, Microsoft, Delightful Communication and more. Thank you to Aimee Cook, Erin Zuehlsdorff, Christina De Guzman, Joe Apfelbaum and Jenn Spicer for your generosity, kindness and time with the Bold Collective. If you are stuck in the layoff lull: you are not alone!! If you are in a career transition or in between roles, this community is here to support and cheer you up! Apparently, Women's Month is over, however, let’s support women not just one month a year but all year long. My special shout-out goes to my wonderful colleague Diana Petru for her endless support and encouragement, not only when it came to the creation of the great Women’s Day video. 🌷 For all the women out there working as managers, and leaders let’s share your knowledge, and best practices and support other women in gaming to keep leveling up. Let’s make the sisterhood in our industry strong and unique compared to other ones. 💫💫 #wargaming #worldofwarships #womeningaming #gamingindustry

Women are 65 percent more likely than men to be impacted by layoffs in the tech industry, which may result in women feeling more pressure to perform at a high level. The frequent loss of women coworkers also takes away chances for women in tech to form closer relationships with each other and expand their professional networks. But together, we can change that. ConnectHER provides a safe and supportive space for women in tech to connect, share experiences and build professional networks. The tech industry has a diversity problem, and it's time for us to take action! As IT recruiters, we play a crucial role in promoting inclusivity and creating opportunities for underrepresented groups. Research shows that diverse teams are more innovative, productive, and successful. Yet, women, people of color, and individuals with disabilities are still underrepresented in tech. So, what can we do to change this? - Use inclusive language in job descriptions - Remove bias from the hiring process - Partner with organizations that support underrepresented groups - Offer training and resources for employees from diverse backgrounds We want to hear from you! What do you think can be done to promote DEI during the recruitment process? Share your stories, tips, and strategies in the comments below! #DEIinTech #ITRecruitment #InclusionMatters #DiversityInTech #EquityInTech #TechForAll

Women disproportionately affected by tech layoffs According to a recent report, the tech industry is currently experiencing a wave of layoffs, and unfortunately, women are being disproportionately affected. This trend highlights the ongoing gender disparity within the sector. The impact of these layoffs on women goes beyond just job loss. It also exacerbates the existing gender pay gap and hampers efforts towards achieving gender equality in the tech industry. Furthermore, the loss of female talent in the sector hinders diversity and inclusion initiatives, which have been proven to enhance innovation and drive better business outcomes. In conclusion, the disproportionate impact of tech layoffs on women is a concerning issue that highlights the need for greater gender equality and inclusivity in the industry. I saw a post this morning about how to recruit more #womenintech A post full of interesting points around unbiased job descriptions, mixed interview panel's and showcasing role models, which I believe all can contribute to attracting more diverse individuals to a business But what do women really want ... I can only speak for myself and the women I have in my network of Tech Returners The Confidence Collective and Reframe Women In Tech Conference but we want to make a impact, we want a challenge, we want to progress and and we want to pave the way for more women in the industry I would want to be part or lead the journey on challenging the norm and pushing boundaries to create real impact 💜 Therefore, my advice is that if you are looking to hire more women in your business and have recently recruited ask them, ask them why they joined you as you might be surprised on what they say to what you think 🤔
