We launched Search Targeted Store Listings yesterday! This empowers app developers to tailor their app’s store presence based on specific user searches. I can’t wait to see the innovative ways they use this functionality. Funny story: During a meeting with my product manager, there might have been a slight communication hiccup. Instead of the initial idea, we ended up exploring a different approach that turned out to be a huge improvement over the initial product! This new solution integrated Gemini to save app developers tons of time when configuring their store listings, ultimately helping them reach and engage more users. The craziest part? We designed and built this in just two weeks! This wouldn't have been achievable without the team's dedication and lightning-fast iteration. We worked together seamlessly, constantly refining the idea and pushing through challenges, ultimately delivering a complete feature just in time for I/O! Keep tuned to see what we build next!

Some shower thoughts & observations about the idea of a product entering a mobile market (and I'm not even talking about app development); I have a feeling (because this is all my little head-cannon theory) that you may find that apps and businesses that you ~previously~ thought were indirect competitors, are now very direct competitors in an unexpected way. "But we're not a social media *whatever* app!" Yeah true enough. However, you've now entered the most valuable market on the planet: the Time & Attention market. You're suddenly competing against other products and services for the users' time and attention. Products that base their earnings from (targeted) advertising & investor confidence around KPIs like MAUs (monthly active users) and session lengths of the users in general. What's the USP that's genuinely going to make someone decide that they'd rather spend their mobile data, time, and attention (all finite resources) on whatever it is you're doing, over the dopamine hits of the big players? What value does the product have in the very specific and demonstrated context of mobile use? I have literally zero answers to this, this was just a really public thought exercise. Anyway, this has been a post. Is it Friday yet?
