In Iran the only way out of Darkness has always been reconnecting with our history to move forward. We can only RENEW ourselves by re-connecting with our PAST. FERDOWSI has offered the blueprint in SHAHNAMEH for doing this. His epic work - apart from being one of the greatest works of literature in mankind's history- is a political manifesto. It doesn't only show that Darkness has and (unfortunately) will always descend upon Iran from time to time, but like a manifesto the SHAHNAMEH gives us a plan for getting out of it: re-connect with our very own great past to forge the present and the future. It has always been out of this (re)connection that Iranian identity and culture thrived - from architecture to statesmanship, to art, music, games, entertainment, social manners, courtesy, literature, science, philosophy etc. And where culture thrives, FREEDOM thrives, as 'freedom implies discoverable meaning in an act.’ (see F. Turner) That's what the Arsacides and the succeeding Sasanians did after Alexander almost razed down Iran to the ground. And what happened in Iran after the Islamisation of the land up to the dynasties in Modern Iran (see A. Amanat) from 16th century onwards. I am not saying that these dynasties were perfect and wonderful in their actions - especially the Safavids and the Qajars made historical mistakes, whose implications we are feeling today! However, they - as opposed to the Occupying Islamic Regime in Iran - considered themselves IRANIAN carrying the LION-AND-SUN emblem of the land of Iran. Without that IRANIAN framework we wouldn't have been able to forge our own version of democracy: i. e. #constitutional Movement. #womanlifefreedom is our second Constitutional Revolution (see Amir Taheri). Long Live Iran #culture #art #future #freeiran #mahsaamini #iranrevolution #womanlifefreedom
ایران معبد ماست. عشق و امید و زادگاه و مایه افتخار ماست. آزادی سزمینمان آرزو و وظیفه یکایک ماست. Iran is our temple. It’s our motherland and as such, the birthplace of our hopes, dreams, and source of pride. Her freedom is the wish and responsibility of each of us.

Most Important 10 Days of the Muslim Calendar Usually Ramadhaan is associated with being the most important to Muslims. There are 10 days which occur in the Islamic month of pilgrimage (which started last week Monday/Tuesday) which are considered more important to Muslims. In these days, Muslims are encouraged to carry out more good deeds and pray more. On the tenth day Eid is also celebrated. You will find some are currently performing the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia which is seen as a life changing experience for those who are able to afford to go. Such a life changing impact is clearly seen from Malcolm X's letter from when he went on his Hajj pilgrimage. The letter highlights how his experience led him to challenge and even change his own views. The power of self reflection and what that did for him is explained so well in his letter. We should all be spending more time reflecting and giving ourselves that time and space during the week to reflect on both our work and personal lives. Who knows how big an impact a bit of self reflection can have? #equality #diversity #inclusion #change #hajj
