🪄 And just like that, the role is closed! The response to the job posting sincerely humbles me, and I wish I could have talked to everyone who applied, but when you find the right person, you have to jump on it. Thank you all for your time and attention. If you're interested in volunteering, I'm always open to it and more than willing to help you onboard as an open-source contributor. Have a great weekend!

🎉 I’m #hiring! Do you know any #engineers who might be interested in building a platform to protect whistleblowers and make responsible disclosure less scary? Send them my way! #whistleblowers #disclosure #compliance #software #python #jobs

Wow, what an amazing response to the job posting! I've closed the application for now, as I have over 100 resumes to review 🥴

Have you heard about the OmniRing, an open-source smartring from researchers at Penn State University? https://lnkd.in/gMcUUcrG

The best thing Google could do is ditch the consumer GenAI arms race and focus on improving their core products (it’s not like they haven’t been using AI in their search ranking for a long time). For whatever reason, they’re not good at #GenAI despite having all the money and smart people they can buy. They’ve gone from being the Silicon Valley darling to showing their massive internal disorganization that leads to confusingly poor strategy (we’re up to 295 products on killedbygoogle.com). It’s not a secret that companies use consumers as test subjects without their consent, but now they’re serving junk at the top of their search results, and it could actually get someone hurt. #ai #ethics #tech

🙏 Thank you, Dr. Costantino Grasso, Mary Inman, the Corporate Crime Observatory, and all of the other esteemed attendees for the opportunity to participate in the international roundtable, From Leaks to Justice: Challenges and Opportunities for the Judiciary in the Age of Disclosure! https://lnkd.in/gimBk3Yf

When I first learned about the Tor Network, someone told me to look for something called "The Hidden Wiki." It contains secret links to information "they" don't want you to know. But TBH, I probably was looking for a link to the old-school Silk Road website - you know, just to scratch my curiosity itch. This was when I was at Virginia Tech, and when browsing the wiki, I found that it even contained information about old steam tunnels running beneath the campus. For reasons of self-preservation, I avoided looking for and venturing inside them, but this resource left an impression. Well, fast-forward nearly 20 years, and there's now a section for whistleblowing tools, and Hush Line is listed 🤯. This is NOT an endorsement of the site's more questionable links, but it gives users access to legitimate onion sites for tools and sites like Keybase, SecureDrop, #OnionShare, DuckDuckGo, FlokiNET, and more. It feels kind of nostalgic, similar to if I were to put on Jnco jeans. Check out The Hidden Wiki in Tor Browser: http://zqktlwiuavvvqqt4ybvgvi7tyo4hjl5xgfuvpdf6otjiycgwqbym2qad.onion/wiki/index.php/Main_Page This is also a reminder that most things advertising illegal services are likely law enforcement honeypots or scams - so do not get yourself in the situation of finding out after fucking around.

1yIf even 5% of workers in the US went on a general strike, it would make waves. The risk is real, but the benefits are immensely valuable.
