For students with a strong interest in research focusing on strategies for social impact, I highly recommend applying for this research associate position. Matthew Lee is thoughtful and caring. Given the nature of questions you will be working on, it is an awesome opportunity to discover (a) how for-profit, non-profit, and hybrid organizations contribute to making our lives better and (b) why rigorous and relevant research is needed to uncover ways in which organizational processes can be made more impactful. #strategy #policy #impact #research
Dear colleagues: I am hiring a research associate for the next 1-2 years to support exciting research on hybrid organizations and strategies for social impact with me and my collaborators at Harvard and beyond. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills (Stata, R, etc.) and a desire to do rigorous and relevant research at the intersection of organizations, strategy and social impact. Some work experience preferred, exceptional new graduates welcome (this is a great opportunity for someone who is considering a PhD). Role is primarily in-person with some remote flexibility. Would you please share with your networks?

Inspiring Confidence and Leadership in STEM Professionals. | I propelled my career from Theoretical Physics PhD to Corporate Consulting.
I was recently asked what jobs you could do with a STEM PhD that isn't being in a lab! Here's some ideas: ✅ Management Consultant ✅ Innovation Hub Business Developer ✅ Medical Tech Sales ✅ Patent Attorney ✅ Project Manager ✅ Partnerships Coordinator ✅ Data Analyst Help build partnerships between universities and startups. Manage projects by bridging the gap between technical + business people. Help innovators through the patent process. There's many more examples but when thinking of what roles to do outside of STEM, think more broadly! #STEM #career #skills #careerdevelopment #phd #academia

"Must have 5 years' experience" 🙄 Personally, I think this is lazy advertising and borderline discrimination! To avoid missing out on top-tier talent, you should focus on the following: ✅ what scenarios and challenges you would like them to have dealt with ✅ relevant project work that would translate well ✅ demonstrable expertise in specific scientific techniques I promise you that hiring people on trajectory is better than hiring someone making a lateral move. A scientist with room for growth will be intrinsically motivated to perform brilliantly in their new role!

🔬 **A Call to Empower Entry-Level Scientists in Challenging Times** As we navigate through the current job market landscape, it's no secret that the competition for scientific positions has become increasingly intense. Entry-level scientists are facing unique challenges, and some may be at risk of straying from their specialty or seeking opportunities outside their field of expertise. This situation can be disheartening, especially for those of us who have invested time and effort into acquiring a Ph.D. I sincerely hope that recruiters can pay more attention to entry-level scientists as well as more experienced individuals. While it's understandable that companies may prioritize experienced individuals, we, as entry-level scientists, have an eagerness to contribute and grow in our respective fields. As we recognize the competitive nature of the job market, let's not overlook the importance of nurturing and empowering the next generation of scientists. We, the entry-level professionals, might be in greater need of opportunities to kickstart our careers and showcase our potential. So, this message serves as a call to all hiring managers to be more thoughtful of junior scientists and provide them with opportunities to thrive. By supporting entry-level talent during these challenging times, we can collectively build a brighter future for the scientific community. Let's stand together, encourage growth, and foster a resilient and innovative workforce that will drive advancements in science. #sciencecommunity #scientists #jobhunt #hiringmanagers #recruiters

Does a Ph.D. only mean a life in academia? If that's your fear, I'll give you three examples of how it serves as a gateway to a plethora of diverse careers.🌞🥸 1.𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺-𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴. A PhD student spends years tackling complex issues and developing robust critical thinking capabilities. --> These skills are highly valued in Strategy and Operations roles. 2.𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀. A key component of a PhD research is mastering the art of analysing large volumes of data. --> This skill is essential in roles such as Project Management or Data Analysis. 3.𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲. PhD students master the art of addressing unexpected outcomes and unclear results. -->This characteristic is highly prized in the dynamic and fast-paced environments of #startup or sales. Next time you're contemplating your career path post-PhD, remember that there's a world of opportunities beyond the walls of academia. #career #personaldevelopment #research #job
