#Day19 #linkedinsportschallenge Highlight the journeys of athletes or executives who have championed DEI in sports. What lessons can we learn? Jennifer Lynne Williams and Megan Perry are two phenomenal former athletes turned sports executives who champion DEI in sports. Jennifer is a beast at ensuring the next generation of athletes and athletes are given opportunities where they can allow their greatness to shine (on and off the court) through cohorts, training, and more. Megan, although arguably does the same, champions DEI in sports by advocating for women's voices to be heard and for them to receive the same opportunities as their male counterparts. Here are a few lessons we can learn: ✔ Never get so consumed by your title or influence that you never reach back to help the next person. They did that for me. I connected with Megan years ago when she appeared on my podcast. A little after that, I connected with Jennifer and she's been nothing but supportive as I go out into the sports community to help with the gifts that I embody. ✔ Never settle with your worth. These two women have climbed the ranks in sports that are typically not afforded to "black" women. These amazing women enter rooms that people only dream to be in because they know their worth, show up with impeccable work ethic, and demand better of themselves and those around them. ✔ Don't make excuses. Yes things will be hard, you might get rejected but if it matters to you, you cannot afford to lie down. #blackwomeninsports #blackwomensportexecutives #DEIinsports #equalityinsports

I've joined forces with Christy Harst along with a tribe of women to make some noise in the voiceover world in an effort to help other women's voices be HEARD in genres where male voices are typically heard. This video is proof that I can do this too!!!! Tag the MLB NETWORK on this video and let 'em know that they should make room for women voices! Please like and share this post! Maybe just maybe they'll get the picture! :) #bettertogether #womensupportingwomen #womenvoices #womensvoicesmatter REPOST: Did you know that 46.5% of MLB fans are women? According to Market Watch, Americans splurged a whopping $108 billion on sports in the 12-month span from 2016 to 2017 - $56 billion on events, $33 billion on gear, and $19 billion on gym memberships. Yep, that's billions! And guess who wielded the power in spending that colossal sum? Women.* Now, picture this: What if male-dominated sports brands like the MLB tapped into the potential of including more women in their advertising? Kesha Monk serves up the perfect example, showcasing how to seamlessly integrate women into baseball fan advertising. Her delivery is pure magic, capturing the thrill of epic moments in baseball history. While it's surprising that major sports brands aren't leveraging the influence of women in their ads, Kesha is far from shocking us with her ability to step up to the mic and drop absolute fire. She's lent her voice to powerhouse brands like McDonald’s, DreamWorks, Coca-Cola, and even promotions for OWN Network, the live show open for The Soul Train Awards, and live announcer for the Tony Awards. Kesha is a meteoric force, using her voice to amplify male-dominated brands. She's not just breaking barriers; she's building doors for other women to walk through. Let's give her a resounding cheer! *Script, images, and video clips are for demo purposes only. *Stats sourced from Forbes article "Women Impact the Bottom Line of Sports."

Personal Brand Aligner | Leadership Coach | Strategy Consultant | Activator | "Infectious energy", "Knows who, knows how"
Today I'm huddling with friends old and new for The Business of Women's Sports Summit today thanks to hosts Deep Blue Sports + Entertainment, Laura Correnti, Alexis Ohanian Sr., Sara Fischer and more. This is thrilling. Sport has always been a vehicle for CHANGE and five things are on my mind as we embark on this new era in women’s sports: 1) 🙋🏿♀️🙋🏼♀️🙋🏾♀️🙋🏻♀️🙋🏽♀️ How do we invest in the leadership of athletes, coaches, and executives in women’s sports and its surrounding ecosystem of brands, media ++ so they can lead in their OWN authentic, intuitive, and effective style? Not just “sports, but with women.” The billion dollar brands we are building will matter, and will boost economies and morale across the globe. Trust us! #personalbrandalignment 2) 📺📱💻🏀⚽️ Mainstream media is catching on to the demand for women’s sports - yay! and - how can we minimize the continued harm that even unconscious and casual sexism, homophobia and misogynoir inflict on the conversation, the game, the industry, and therefore society? #womenssportscoverage 3) 🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️🏳️⚧️ I don’t have any answers to the complexities of trans inclusion in sport, but I know our trans sibs need to play, and that it’s the responsibility of our generation of leaders to figure this out. Who is gathering stakeholders to find real solutions to build the future accordingly? I want to help. #transinclusioninsports 4) 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 A national abortion ban in 2025 would make business quite challenging in red and blue states alike for the NCAA, WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association), National Women's Soccer League (NWSL), Athletes Unlimited, and more. We’re 195 days away from the 2024 election and the VCs for Repro Coalition is getting into formation to publicly and persuasively connect reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy to basic human rights, an innovative economy, a thriving society, and a functioning democracy #abortionisyourbusiness 5) 🤷🏾♂️🤷🏼♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏿♂️ Misogyny and zero sum thinking are limiting beliefs that limit potential for everyone. Yes, rigid gender norms and scarcity mindsets hurt men too! I'm working on an ambitious cross-sector men’s mental health initiative for 2025 and holding intentional conversations with stakeholders this year #thewelfareofmen DM to talk more on any of these! Who’s with me? CC Erin Gallagher, Jasmine Maietta, Lorine Pendleton, Alex Taylor, Jess Smith, Kari Fleischauer, Sascha Malas, Jessica Berman, Caroline Heldman, Keia Clarke, Howard Megdal, Stef Strack, Rachael Rapinoe, MS, Lindsay Shaffer, Jennifer Cho, Jasmine Robinson, Cathy Engelbert, Grace Athanas-Linden, Brooke Wurst, Jon Patricof, Matt Goodman, Jonathan Soros, Binta Niambi Brown, Jen Zudonyi, Yang Adija, MBA, Shana R. Stephenson, Emily Stets, Jennifer Justice, Tammy Gordon, Emily Tisch Sussman, Arlan Hamilton and too many more womens sports stans to tag 🙌 Summit details available here: https://lnkd.in/e8py4eFP

What a year for #womensports ! I recently had the opportunity to talk with four other amazingly accomplished women in the world of sport on the Brawn Body Podcast with Daniel Braun. Each person brought a unique perspective on the biopsychosocial factors that women experience in sport. In 2023, women’s sports had unprecedented success in the world of investing, viewership, and attendance. The Women's March Madness final set new records for television audiences. Attendance across European soccer spiked. Expansion clubs in the National Women’s Soccer League are selling at record prices. It is clear that the popularity and investment in women’s sport is soaring. It is also clear that women’s sports have a long way to go. This was apparent in the discussion on the Brawn Body podcast where we discussed the lack of funding, inadequate resources, and societal pressures in women’s sports. Women's sports are not done growing and we won’t settle for less. Here’s to a new year and a new opportunity to raise the bar in women’s sports. #womenempoweringwomen #womenssports #womenempowerment #womenhealth #womeninfinance #womenchangemakers Women in Sports

Recognizing the Nuance of #womeninsport ⚽ ⚾ 🏀 🏐 🏓 On #internationalwomensday , our founder and CEO Alejandra Salazar was invited to speak at the Inter Miami CF as part of Everything in Sport - Women's Edition. 👉🏼 Answering the question of how teams and brands can not only reach the female audience but also understand and genuinely communicate with them, Alejandra called on brands, sponsors, and teams to recognize the nuances of women who practice and consume sport to generate genuine relationships. "It's not just about talking to the female audience on a day like today, or when Taylor Swift goes to the Super Bowl," she said. "It's about recognizing ourselves as part of the target and understanding that we don't consume or talk in the same way as men or each other 💜 (we may have some points in common between women soccer fans and basketball fans, but we also have our differences) By recognizing the insights and nuances of the female audience, the next step is to be creative and real in communicating and conversing with women. Sport is competition and discipline, but it is also joy and happiness, and generating creative experiences is key. 💡 I think all these insight are crucial in today's sports marketing landscape.

More investment = more revenue in return

Funny what happens when you support women! Revenue from major women's sports should cross the $1 billion threshold in 2024, marking a threefold spike from just three years ago. Encouraging news, but even better is that future projections predict that the numbers will continue to increase. #womeninsport #womeninsports #womensports

🤔 Curious about the double standards in sports, particularly in women's sports? Has the question ever crossed your mind - why there's a push to sanitize women's sports, strip it of rivalry, banter, and drama? It's a part of the game. It's a component of the thrill. But here's the kicker - sport, by nature, is a battlefield. It's messy. It's full of rivalries, highs, and lows. It's raw and unadulterated. And that's what makes it worth watching. Yet, women in sports are expected to tread lightly, to be politically correct at all times, and to never indulge in banter. It's like we're policing the emotions and expressions of women in sports. Where does this leave us? A need for candid conversations about the unspoken rules in women's sports. A necessity for a shift in narrative. A much-needed change in perspective. 💭 So next time you see the media judge a woman athlete for her fiery spirit, her competitive drive, or her heated exchange on the field, ask yourself - would they do the same if she were a man? Your thoughts? It's high time we start having these important discussions. 🗣️
