This course contains everything you need to manage the types of use of force incidents you respond to most often. Instead of vague concepts or an outdated instructor, youโll get the specific tools you need and learn from a current practitioner in the field. Your instructor, Jason Louis, is a Sergeant with the Ventura County Sheriff's Office, where he conducts use of force reviews. Jason's resume includes being certified as both a Force Science Analyst and an Enhanced Force Investigations Strategies Specialist as well as being an expert in use of force laws. But most important to you is the fact that Jason is an active Sergeant so he understands why you need practical information that you can begin using immediately. This course provides current and aspiring supervisors with the specific skills they can use to reduce liability and the risk of injury by managing the most common use of force incidents both before, during and after an incident, including: โ The best ways supervisors can โset the toneโ ahead of time during briefing trainings โ How to manage the scene of a use of force incident โ How to manage use of force incidents on your shift and conduct in-field use of force investigations โ Use of force laws that every supervisor needs to know To register, use the link in the comments. #police #policetraining #lawenforcement #lawenforcementtraining

This is a half-day course. All online. Full of relevant practical content and great yarns from Janet Whiteside. And how's this for an endorsement: "I will be recommending that all our Enforcement Officers who interact with the RMA take this course to build capability across all our teams". What more could a frontline compliance officer ask for? (ok there is plenty you need and you could ask for but hey we can't fix all your problems!) #localgovernment #compliance #planning #rma #environment

*SQE Guidance* Following my recent SQE related posts, I now have a lot of contacts in my network who are taking or interested in the SQE. I therefore wanted to share that the SRA have published some new, well needed, guidance on managing the stress and pressure of the exams on the SQE website. You can find the guidance here: https://lnkd.in/euk3siXH. One of my top tips for candidates generally is read the SQE website top to bottom, ten times over! There is so much information on there in terms of the content, format and logistics of these exams. If you have a question, the chances are the answer is on the website somewhere! #sqe #sra

Sometimes good tactics have good outcomes, and sometimes bad tactics have good outcomes. However, it's crucial to understand that the outcome cannot be directly attributed to the tactics themselves. We cannot predict the future, and the behavior of the individuals involved plays a significant role in the outcome. One of the challenges is that administrators, investigators, and prosecutors often lack awareness of relevant literature discussing these issues. They tend to draw causal connections between bad outcomes and specific actions from the officer's perspective. However, police officers face numerous potential outcomes when making decisions, and it's not always clear which tactic or technique will yield the best result. This is not to suggest that tactics and techniques are irrelevant. being highlighting is that when things go wrong, it becomes easy and it's a natural response for administrators and others to find a clear connection in hindsight, using that as a basis for punishment. This risk-averse approach leads to a search for blame. It's important to remember that our goal is not to protect positions of rank when a controversial incident arises. Rather, it is to fulfill our responsibilities in identifying the training components, develop that training, make better, safer officers and departments, and improve the processes associated with the complete investigation, review, analysis and evaluation of the incident. https://buff.ly/3O2N4Is. #LawEnforcement #Tactics #Outcomes #DecisionMaking #Responsibilities
