These scams involve the scammer posing as a CareerWise Recruitment Consultant on social media apps like Facebook, Instagram, Telegram and WhatsApp, asking potential candidates for money in exchange for a job or interview. These are often numbers from outside Ireland. They also phish for personal information such as your name, age and other personal details. Let's talk recruitment fraud..... I had this happen to one of my friends recently. She's been a stay at home mom for several years and when trying to get back into the work force she applied for a position online, had an interview via text, and was asked personal identification information before she was given an offer. I told her no no no, those are all red flags and likely a scam (which is was)! So, for those of you looking for a new opportunity or getting back into the workforce please be cautious of potential recruitment fraud. -If you are interested in exploring opportunities with a certain company go directly to their Careers Page. - A legitimate company will never ask you to pay a fee or download software as part of the interview process. - Interviews should be done in person or by video. - No one should ask for your personal banking information until you have signed an offer of employment and completed onboarding paperwork that is provided by an HR team. - Legitimate emails from an HR or hiring team will never originate from gmail.com, yahoo.com, hotmail.com or other commercial email service. PellePharm scammers are pretending to be in your recruitment division and reaching out to setup fake interviews for positions you don't have posted on your website. I tried to email or contact you direct but you have no phone number and your "[email protected]" email address kicks back as undeliverable too. The person who is reaching out has an email address that doesn't exist on your servers (I tried). The name being used is Meagan Hadid, [email protected]. She only communicates with a gmail address which I have reported to Google. I ask for the sake of other job seekers for you to immediately put a warning on your website to this scam. Below is the script I received. Dear Hunter Ellis I hope this email finds you well. My name is Meagan Hadid, and I am a representative from PellePharm. I came across your profile on LinkedIn and was impressed by your experience and qualifications. We believe you could be a valuable addition to our team, and I would like to invite you to participate in our interview process for the  Remote Operations Manager position. We are currently in the process of conducting interviews for this position and would like to invite you to participate in our two-stage interview process. This process consists of a phone interview followed by a pre-employment test assessment. Dan is a job seeker and has been applying for jobs. He kept hoping to get an interview from all his applications. He checked his mail and saw an interview offer. He was so happy and decided to show his friend. Alas, it was a fake interview email. He asked his friend how he knew it was fake. His friend listed the some tips to spot a fake jobs or interviews - Check the email address to make sure its coming from a legitimate company email. - The email does not address you personally. - Be wary of any emails that ask you to share your personal information such as BVN,NIN, Bank password or pin. - Most fake emails always have a lot of grammatical errors or poorly written. - If an email informs you to do something immediately by clicking on a link or opening an attachment. Be cautious as this could be a phishing scam. - You might be invited to a physical address. Ensure you research or check google to ensure such address is real. - Ensure you keep track of your job application so that you can tell if you really applied for the job. Social Security Number Trace is a Good First Step in the Background Check Process -The SSN Trace can confirm the screening results you receive match your applicant. The SSN trace will show whether the number provided by the applicant matches the Social Security database, the year(s) the SSN was issued, and the state it was issued. For example, if an applicant provided an SSN that was issued in 1970 and the applicant was born in 1980 the applicant would need to be contacted to verify the SSN. Sometimes the applicant inputs the SSN with one digit in error inadvertently. Sometimes the wrong number is entered to hide records.   The Social Security Trace may provide other helpful information about schools, credit card companies, banks, and utilities which may help with basic information regarding an applicant's Social Security number. All information is helpful if you want to conduct a more thorough background check.   There is a catch, however. Fake job scammers are the absolute worst. Preying on people who are out of work and job hunting is horrible scummy behavior. If you haven't heard of these scams, they basically mirror an existing company with a fake website, fake job listings, fake documentation etc. They lure in people looking for jobs with fake interviews, then send fake offers on fraudulent company letterhead. They'll ask for as much sensitive info about you as they can: driver's license, passport, bank account etc... It seems to culminate in a fake check you are supposed to use to buy your laptop + software from them (then the check bounces and they never send you the laptop). **********Here's an example of the kind of email they send****************  This email is concerning your request for employment, We are intrigued with your qualifications and would like to welcome you to an interview with us for one of the Remote Customer Success Manager openings we have at Copado Inc.
