Declined credit cards are costly to all clubs. The costs to #wineclubs can have several implications for wineries, impacting revenue, customer relationships, and operational efficiency. We recover 20-25% of credit cards and capture sales at the same time. The decline files are a great way to engage with customers, capture a new card, any new customer data and share information about any wines that might be interesting to add to the cart when we update their cards. You have to realize, your club members are passionate, super fans. They want to update their cards and get a chance to talk about one of their favorite things. The fact that you can create a win win - by getting a new card and a sale, well that's the best of all worlds. Try it, you'll be surprised at how many people will be thrilled that you care and wanted to keep them informed about their account status. #wine, #winery, #dtc, #napa, #customer, #wineclub, #members

Unpopular wine industry opinion: American grocery store bars are doing better at curating positive drinking culture than regular bars. I didn’t get it at first. Why would someone want to go to a bar…in a grocery store? Working wine merchandising I was able to observe and see why. 1. Its brightly lit, spacious and most do not sell hard liquor- What you’re left with are people actually speaking to one another while still being able to function when they leave. In contrast to many dimly lit, jam packed night bars selling high strength liquor that can leave you feeling worse the next day. The function of a grocery store bar is to actually interact. I hope the industry takes notice. #wineindustry #alcoholindustry #winebusiness #bartenderlife

The release prices of 1982 are legendary, and with many of them making returns of over 1,000%, probably count among the most envy-inducing investments in history. Lafite Rothschild, for example, came out to the market at 170 francs per bottle, or around €17. Today that same single bottle would set you back at over €7,600 (this is the price that I found this week on a reputable Bordeaux merchant site selling direct to the public). For tomorrow's #newcontentthursday, to accompany our 1982 deep dive tasting, we take a look at how the wines are doing on the secondary market. Not surprisingly, prices are still high, and climbing in most cases, but you might find a few surprises - including one particular bottle that is still delicious and can be found for around £100 a bottle. Not bad for tasting a slice of 20th century history. #1982vintage #newcontentthursdays #1982spotlight #winecritic #insidebordeaux
