Teamwork? Not just that. During the #induction at Pernod Ricard, we were taught some interesting lessons through games. 15 of us were divided into groups of two. On the white stand you see in the picture below, there were hooks. We were given four rings and asked to place the rings on the hooks. The higher you place them, the more points you get. As you can see, there was a huge gap between us and the white stand. You couldn't even throw the rings. The only solution was to lean. If you overstepped a line, you would be penalized. For leaning, you would need support. You had to lean in such a manner that you were just on one foot and tilted. It was ideally not possible without support. While leaning, there was a chance of falling if not supported. The whole point of the game was to teach us to TRUST that our friends/teammates/colleagues will support us while we accomplish the task. An interesting way to learn the importance of TRUST, isn't it? #internship #PernodRicard

I lived at 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗻𝗲𝘆𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 during my internship. Here are my 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘀... My first big internship was at The Walt Disney Company on the Business Leader Rotation Program. I lived in Disney Intern Housing right next to Disneyland, and worked on teams ranging from Finance to Marketing Strategy to Revenue Management. Ironically, I did not meet the "requirements" such as the GPA requirement. But I knew that I had leadership experience as I was the President of the Latino Business Student Association (LBSA) at USC, and given that it was a leadership program, I doubled down on my strengths. 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽: 1. Connect the dots between you and the company. For example, it was a leadership program, and I had leadership experience. 2. If you don't have past internship experience, focus on transferable skills/experiences like class work, side projects, summer jobs, etc. 3. Believe that you ARE good enough for the big name companies. I never thought in a million years that I would land an internship at Disney, but I wasn't about to self reject myself. 𝗔𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲: Network with EVERYONE at the company. Employees love meeting interns, so use that to your advantage. Then, connect with everyone on LinkedIn since you will lose access to your company email. 💬 What's your biggest internship lesson/tip? Happy #nationalinternday ✌️ P.S. I was able to find my Disney name tag (below) *** 🔔 If you found this helpful, you would love my other work/life content - be sure to follow AJ Eckstein and re-post this to share with your network! Opinions are my own and not of my employer.

1st Day at Disney 😱 Believe it or not, this is my FIFTH 1st day at The Walt Disney Company and the start of my fifth internship with the Mouse House! The name tag I'm holding up contains so many memories and has so much meaning in my life. Not to be dramatic, but becoming a #DisneyIntern truly changed my life. That's definitely not a promised benefit in the internship description, but I suppose it's what I've done with the experiences that made all the difference in my life. [advice #1 for new Disney interns 😉] I landed my first internship with #Disney as a green, little 18-year-old, fresh out of my freshmen year of college (2020-21). After an amazing first internship, I accepted an extension for the Fall '21, a return offer for Summer '22, and an extension for Fall '22. Last December, I accepted my offer to return to the most magical [work] place on Earth THIS summer! And let's not forget I started my journey as a LinkedIn creator, simply telling my story as a Disney Intern. Disney has established itself as a "master of storytelling," and I was inspired to start sharing my own story. Telling this story has opened so many doors for me in my career as a Product Manager and opened an entirely new one as a content creator, speaker, and creator-founder [in progress 😉]. It's been such an incredible journey thus far, and I'm so thrilled I get to write a new chapter in this magical story. At my TWDC Beginnings orientation today, there was one quote that stuck with me, and in reference to Disneyland and Disney employees, it was, "The people that dreamed this up are still dreaming." People always tell me that my head is in the clouds and that dreams are just dreams. But in the last three years, I've learned that any dream can become a reality with relentlessness, consistent effort, and unwavering belief in yourself. So here's to Season 5, Episode 1, and the company that encouraged me to keep dreaming. 🫶 #internships #summerinternship #earlycareer

refLEXtion: Internships at Sam's Club Over 25 years ago, I lived off of Kellogg Company’s Corn Pops. Truly emulating the mantra, “Gotta Have My Pops,” I applied for an internship at Kellogg’s, while feasting off of cereal at the University of Michigan. I envisioned a world where I quite literally popped through the “O” in “pOp’s”. While I didn’t receive an internship at Kellogg Company, my passion for brands + writing did make its’ way to Hearst Magazines. And, in the late ‘90’s, I accepted an internship as a Merchandise Editorial Intern at Marie Claire Magazine. As a Merchandise Editorial Intern, I learned how accessories accompany apparel. However, amidst this world of shoes, jewels, and belts; I continued to wonder where the “Pops” exist. How did advertising get into the magazine? Thankfully, I embarked on a relationship with Amanda Ross who explained the world of publishing to me. I learned about full bleed printing, the 2nd-4th cover, frequency, circulation and more. And thus, I pivoted from editorial to publishing because…I gotta have my Pops. Internships can help you learn about an industry. Internships can help you learn about yourself. Internships can lead to exciting career opportunities. So, for any college student who wants to chart a new path for themselves; please consider Sam’s Club Member Access Platform (MAP).

It’s officially been over SIX months since starting my internship at Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Live Entertainment. 🥳 Here are six things that I have learned so far: 📖 Storytelling is a number one priority, especially the unique way that Disney tells stories. I have learned a lot about pitching decks, brainstorming, and overall storytelling! 🤝 It may be a bit stereotypical, but it’s all about who you know and putting yourself out there. I have had 100+ meet and greets over the course of my internship so far to expand my network. 💡 Being strategic does not always mean you are not being authentic. In my opinion, being mindful of your interactions and relationships is important for any career and relationship. 📝 Sometimes, saying less is saying more. I was so excited to contribute at first that I tried to talk at every chance I had. I learned that taking a step back and thinking through my words and speaking at key moments has improved my work. 🧑💻 You have to be willing to put the work in, maybe even for less pay and better opportunities. I took a ~$3.50/hr pay cut (that’s $10-12k/yr+ salary.!) for this internship because I knew interning at The Walt Disney Company this early in my career will forever help me in the future. So far, I have had so many priceless experiences. 🌟 Right now, the job market is even tougher than before. The reality is, there are tons of extremely qualified people for each role. Focusing on what makes you unique and what value you bring to the table will ultimately help you land your next opportunity, which happened to me. If you have any questions or want help landing an opportunity, then feel free to reach out! 😊 I am more than happy to see how I can help and pay my success forward. Here’s to the next six months of finishing this internship! 🙌🏼

Summer/Fall Disney Internship applications are still open! ✨ Here are my tips for applying from my intern experience at Walt Disney Imagineering, Disney Live Entertainment over the last 9 months: 💡In one of the toughest job markets, what sets you apart from other applicants? For me, my interview was tough but I knew I was tougher. An executive on the panel straight up asked me, “What can you add to the team? What do we get out of it?” In the moment, I had to pivot and showcase my skills in a matter of seconds. Needless to say, it helped me land my internship! 🔐 Share your passion and love for the brand/company, but also showcase that you are able to keep your work confidential. As interns, we have access to so many cool things! I have seen A LOT during my time at The Walt Disney Company, so it’s important that you are able to protect the magic and keep your work to yourself outside of the internship. I suggest sharing an example of a time where you had to do this. 😆 Be yourself, but still remain professional and mindful. From my experience in talent research and other pipelines, hiring managers do keep in mind if you are able to fit into the team and get along with other people in order to get work done efficiently and smoothly. Don’t fake it, but definitely showchase your authentic self! Do you have any tips? Did this help? 🪄 Feel free to comment or share this post with anyone you think could benefit! Don't forget to apply for internships here: https://lnkd.in/gPJHUZBi] Of course, this post does not accurately reflect the entire company and is only about my own experience. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out. I'll do my best to see what I can do and pay my success forward to future magic makers! ✨😊
