From Crashes to Connections: The Singleton Savior While working on a project, I discovered the pain of connection limits. Locally, things were smooth, but after deploying to Google Cloud, test clients poured in, and suddenly: maximum connections reached. The app crashed hard. The culprit? Prisma was spawning a new DB connection per instance. The solution? The Singleton pattern. It limited the backend to a single DB connection instance, and boom—problem solved. Have you faced scaling surprises like this? Let’s swap war stories!

We are currently waiting for judging to complete and the people vote to open soon with our entry to the Gemini API Competition. (Google Cloud) While we wait, we thought we would share some of the architecture we used. Reflecting on the solution we would have made a couple of changes given more time to engineer. What changes would you consider? We will keep you updated as to when the people vote opens if we make the shortlist. #buildwithgemini #gemini #ai #cloud
