Kim Kardashian's partnership with Balenciaga is more than just any high-fashion collab. With the shadow of past scandals looming, this partnership boldly emphasizes resilience and the nuanced dynamics of the power of branding. It's a deliberate move that harnesses Kim's massive cultural influence to reshape this controversy-tainted narrative. She's not just adding glamour. She's infusing depth. It's a savvy brand strategy chess move. A punch-back to a scandal. Playing offense, not defense. #brandstrategy #luxurybranding #kimkardashian #Balenciaga

Pharrell reminds us (encase you needed reminding) that he is a disruptor, his debut LV show was a beautifully scripted campaign. From the pre-event teases, reveals, taking over The Pont Neuf, the gospel Choir, British Rapper Dave walking in the show, surprise performance by Jay-Z - it was a vibe. A spectacle. Not to mention his recent spread in GQ…. Art. Although, this is not the first time entertainment meets fashion, and it won’t be the last… Two things stood out in the article (shared below): 1. The article states, “The worlds of fashion and entertainment have finally melded”. This has been happening for the longest time. From the beginning of hip hop (which celebrated its 50th anniversary last week). In 1982, Dapper Dan opened a boutique in Harlem, 1986: Run DMC x Adidas, 2003: Missy Elliot for Gap, 2016; A$AP Rocky x Dior. From Aaliyah for Tommy Hilfiger, Dr. Dre's Beats headphones and retail mains like Diddy's Sean John and Jay-Z's Rocawear - fashion (luxury at that) & entertainment have had a long standing relationship. And the signs of hip-hop’s influence are not going anywhere. 2. High end fashion is shifting towards creating spaces for Black influence at the top. Virgil Abloh (Off-White & Louis Vuitton); Olivier Rousteing (Balmain); Rushemy Botter (Co-designer of Nina Ricci), and Kanye West. We’re seeing the same in sport with Crystal Palace F.C appoint Kenny Annan-Jonathan as the Premier League's first ever Creative Director! A big move!! So while the scale may look different, the influence is clear. Valuable and impactful. The worlds have beeeeen melding... it’s now more visible to a mainstream audience, as the culture cannot be ignored. Black culture continues to drive conversation and pop culture. https://lnkd.in/dHacmGfq #representationmatters #culture #popculture #marketing #premierleague #business #fashion

First Pick, First in Fashion: Caitlin Clark Makes History in Prada at the WNBA Draft The 2024 WNBA Draft was a night of history-making moments. Caitlin Clark, the NCAA's all-time leading scorer (men's and women's combined!), became the top overall pick by the Indiana Fever. But beyond the on-court accolades, Clark stole the show off the court with her head-to-toe Prada ensemble, marking a first for both the WNBA and NBA drafts. A Basketball Prodigy Emerges: Caitlin Clark's impact on women's basketball is undeniable. The 22-year-old Iowa Hawkeyes guard has captivated audiences with her electrifying play, record-breaking scoring feats, and infectious #energy. Her dedication to the game and her ability to inspire a new generation of young female athletes make her a true role model. A New Era for WNBA Fashion: Clark's decision to wear Prada at the draft signifies a potential shift in the perception of WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) fashion. Historically, the WNBA draft hasn't always garnered the same level of fashion attention as its National Basketball Association (NBA) counterpart. Clark's bold choice breaks down these barriers, demonstrating that athletic prowess and high fashion can go hand-in-hand. Prada and the Power of Confidence: Prada Group, known for its sophisticated and often minimalist aesthetic, seems like an unconventional choice for a draft night. However, the clean lines and luxurious details of Clark's outfit perfectly complement her confident demeanor. It's a statement that says, "I'm a serious athlete, but I also understand style." Beyond the Look: Of course, Clark's talent on the court is the main focus. But her fashion choice sparks an interesting conversation. Can high fashion and sports co-exist? Does embracing personal style empower female athletes? A New Generation Taking Charge: Clark's decision to wear Prada isn't just about a designer label; it's a symbol of a new generation of female athletes redefining the narrative. They are not just athletes; they are cultural #icons, #entrepreneurs, and #trendsetters. They are redefining what it means to be a successful woman in sports, both on and off the court. A Look to the Future: Caitlin Clark's first steps into the WNBA may have been paved in Prada, but her journey is far from over. Her impact on the court is undeniable, and her influence on the world of sports fashion is just beginning. One thing is certain - Caitlin Clark is a star to watch, both for her game and her ability to break barriers. #ceomindset #fashion #female #sports #PRADA

The business of #fashion #runway shows is a curious one. In one Friday night of Miami Swim Week®️The Shows, Bryce Quillin PhD and I were soaked to the bone in a thunderstorm, watched lightning off and on for hours, and saw a show stop and start three times until it was paused at length after a model slipped on the runway. When the show came back, the models walked barefoot and very slowly. Yet the same CUPSHE show featured impressive body diversity. There were models of all shapes, sizes, and colours, including a disabled model, a pregnant one, and a model with her daughter. It was a lovely celebration of women in all phases of life. While I often question “the show must go on” mentality of many fashion shows, the organizers of this one did a great job in weathering the weather and keeping the audience informed. (That said, to confess, I was a wimp and watched the entire thing from my hotel room.) For #designers, #models, #photographers, and others whose livelihood depends on fashion collections being seen, runway presentations remain a foundational way for fashion brands to gain visibility and showcase their vision and artistry. #branding #brandstrategy #fashionstrategy #businessoffashion #miamiswimweek #swim #swimweek #swimwear #catwalk #strategy #bodypositivity #diversity #sizeinclusivity
