Job postings advertising a 4-day workweek – a key demand of hundreds of thousands of striking US manufacturing workers – have risen steadily in recent years, but still remain low overall. Indeed’s North American Research Director, Nick Bunker reveals Indeed jobs advertising a shortened workweek accounted for just 0.3% of total job postings in September. HOW TO GET READY FOR THE FIRST CALL WITH A RECRUITER 💡 💬 Preparing for the first call with a recruiter can be nervous, but there are a few things you can do to make the conversation go smoothly. ⚡ Firstly, make sure you have a stable internet connection and a quiet, comfortable environment for conversation. My colleague Tatyana Pinchuk recently shared a nice post about this topic, you could check it here: bit.ly/4429ajx ⚡ Don’t hesitate to ask questions on a call as it’s your chance to get to know company culture better. You could prepare the list of questions to ask a recruiter. ⚡Be ready to answer the questions about your reasons for considering offers and expectations: it helps to understand your motivation. You can highlight both positive and negative cases you faced during your experience and a recruiter can comment at once on what you can expect working with a company – you will understand whether it meets your expectations or not. ⚡Prepare and summarize your recent main tasks and activities. Tell us about what challenges you faced and how you managed them. If you have some completed courses (pet-projects) or extra activities related to your experience it would be great to hear about them! ⚡Be ready to explain employment gaps in your experience. Different people have different career path: it could be a gap year or maternity/paternity leave or part-time job during university study or “you can add your example here”. ⚡Last but not least: discuss salary expectations, sometimes it’s hard to provide a definite amount on the first call, so you can give the salary range, it helps to understand your expectations better. Make sure you say salary in Gross, because there might be a variety of different options with taxes in different countries. Feel free to share your tips in the comments 🎤
