I said some stuff...
Our SVP Digital Strategy & Licensing, Eugene Evans, talks future of the Baldur’s Gate franchise in PC Gamer: “…we're going to take our time and find the right partner, the right approach, and the right product that could represent the future of Baldur's Gate. We take that very, very seriously, as we do with all of our decisions around our portfolio.”
While there is all the present buzz around BG/forgotten realms, I think it would be really cool to have some of your other settings (e.g., Eberron) show up in games similar to BG. That doesn't let you take advantage of the beloved BG3 characters, but it does uncomplicate the story arcs.
Really excited to see what’s next for this beloved IP and which partner you decide to venture forth with.
Hi, Eugene. Good "stuff." Would love to connect & discuss.
We are all excited for this.
Smart stuff. As always.

1moIn this there is a lot to be learned from simlar franchises, like Mass Effect and Dragon Age. Both games boast complex storylines that uniquley integrate player choices across multiple games. However, that's not always a good thing. I haven't finished Balder's Gate 3 yet, but it might be one of those games where it's best to leave the story completed and to start a new story with new characters. Trying to add on to a game that was received as well as Balder's Gate 3 can often damage the brand.
