[PERSON FOUND & HIRED] Looking for Jr. marketing help! 🔎 During the summer, I started working with a local award-winning fintech called Cino as a Visiting CMO. We are reshaping group payments by enabling people to pay together for things like plane tickets and hotel bookings. They have built a completely unique technical approach to splitting bills that banking veterans said is impossible which was one of the reasons I decided to accept that role. The other one was the team. We're looking to expand that now. Specifically, I'm now looking for a Jr. influencer marketing manager to join our marketing ops team and work together with me and the founders. We have managed to figure out our growth channels and product-market fit but need hands-on help to keep growing. Ideally, we looking for someone who wants to move into marketing and knows a thing or two about TikTok. Here's what you need to know about the position: ✔ you'll be researching, reaching out, and negotiating deals with TikTok influencers globally. ✔ That also means an almost fully English work environment. ✔ It's a part-time role (10-15h per week), fully remote and paid. Although, if you can commit more hours, it's a huge plus. ✔ You'll be in control of your time and when you work but responsible for your KPIs. So it's pretty much ideal for marketing students. ✔ There's a realistic career path and in 6-12 months you could easily be managing your own team of influencer marketing managers, take care of Cino's content, or even replace me as CMO. 5 years ago, I ALMOST said no to working at Meta. I had quit my cushy start-up role to start my own freelance copywriting biz in parallel with my bestie Anna Hetzel. I was gonna live the dream: working on my own terms, under my own name, putting words that work out into the world, all from the best city on the planet. (BARCELONA obviously, if you disagree we can fight) I was on the beach in Mexico, half-empty Pacifico sweating in my hand, when I got the recruiter's email. I called over Anna to laugh at the obvious troll together. Anna didn't laugh, and told me that I damn well better respond. I reluctantly took each step through the interview process, laughing at myself along the way. Not only was I completely unqualified for this role, but I wouldn't even take it if they did offer it to me. I mean, ME, working for Big Corporate? in LONDON?? Never gonna happen. Even on the plane ride to the in-person interview, I was thinking, what a lark -- that they'd fly ME out and put ME up in a hotel, just to meet a bunch of elitist corporate shills. They'd see right through me and I through them. Who were any of us kidding, anyway? And here's the plot twist: ➡️ They were kind. Alex Hunter, Anne Deggelman, John McGarvey, Edward White, and Sam Royle took me completely aback with their earnest openness, and their genuine curiosity to get to know what made me tick. I’m sure a big part of that day was pitting me numerically against evaluation metrics, but I also know my humanity was invited to the table as an inherent part of what could make me valuable to this big Facebook Thing. The clincher was the recruiter setting me up on a call with Alexa Shoen. It was in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal that I asked: 📞 Me: "So, like, I know you can't tell me anything specific, but I need to know: on the inside, do you all just go around repeating the company line?" 📞 Her: "Oh GOD no. We have major debates about absolutely everything that goes on here. Decision-making is very open and it's all up for critique. Being open is at the core of this place." And after months of preemptively saying no, I said yes. — Five years down the line, I’m going full circle and saying YES again – this time to joining forces with Anna (yup, the very same one who told me I had better respond to the Facebook recruiter or else). We’re transforming Strange Birds into a double-barrelled content design + copywriting retention machine. ✨ Currently seeking projects big and small. Tell your friends. ✨ And be open.
