“I did vote for him... Most likely will again… But I think my defining moment was how he handled losing. The way he handles some things, I would — if it were my children handling it the same way, we’d have a talking.” Our Trump 2020 women focus group: https://lnkd.in/eT3kbWSP

Very powerful video and well-made
Senior Journalist & Presenter at FRANCE 24; Host & Creator of The 51 Percent; Moderator & Conference Host; Gold Medal winner, Broadcast Journalism, UNCA Ricardo Ortega Prize 2018. And yes, I do have an Australian accent.
In the UK, many still refer to this as just “banter.” It’s not and and is certainly not okay. Great video by Tracy Brabin, the first woman mayor of West Yorkshire and her team, highlighting the need to end public harassment of #women. So many of us women have been the subject of unwanted remarks on the streets. Do watch .. #JustDont Laure Manent Yong Chim P.S. A good article by Judges Matter based on the Judiciary Annual Report 2021/2022 on the strides that women have made in the legal profession. 2023 marks 100 years since women were allowed to enter the legal profession in South Africa. A few statistics include: ✅ 113 of 253 superior court judges are women. This is approximately 45%. ✅ The President of the Supreme Court of Appeal is a woman. ✅ The former President of the Supreme Court of Appeal, now the Deputy Chief Justice and is a woman. ✅ The Kwa Zulu Natal High Court and the Mpumalanga High Court are led by women judge presidents. ✅ The Free State High Court, Limpopo High Court, Northen Cape and Western Cape High Courts have women as deputy judge presidents. In the lower courts (magistrate's courts): ☑ 51% of magistrate's are women. ☑ 4 of the 8 permanent Regional Court presidents are women. ☑ 10 out of the 16 Chief Magistrates are women.
This Women’s day we pay tribute to the women of the judiciary. This year marks a 100 years of women in the legal profession. Today we want to acknowledge that journey and celebrate the women who have fought for representation, who have used their legal skills to fight for equality, justice and human rights, and who have, and continue to, inspire future generations. The role of these women cannot be understated. The journey is far from over. To all the women of the judiciary, we salute you. https://bit.ly/3YohQj6 #JudgesMatter #womensday2023 #womeninjudiciary #womeninlaw #EmbraceEquity

These photos from House of Commons, show the diversity within our Cabinet ministers and Caucus compared to the conservatives. Take a look at the representation in each frame— it’s hard not to see how our Liberal government ensures women are not just present but pivotal in our decision-making. Meanwhile, you only see women in photos of the conservative caucus when you see the leader - the limited number of conservative women MPs strategically arranged around him giving the impression of a higher proportion of women than is actually the fact. Our dedication to women’s rights, including access to free contraceptives, is not just a policy but a promise. We will continue to protect the rights guaranteed in our Charter of Rights and Freedoms and of course women’s right to choose. Women’s rights are human rights. #GenderEquality #womensrightsarehumanrights

Democracy is Feminist. "Historically, women in the United States have participated voraciously in civic life, registering and voting at higher rates than men in every presidential election since 1980. Black women show up at the polls and in voter mobilization efforts in even greater numbers, with turnout rates of upward of 66% in 2020." Women shouldn’t own property. They’re inferior & aren’t capable. Pardon our language… but F*CK that. Can you believe that this used to be the norm? The LAW? Today is International Women Day. Today we celebrate how far we have ALL come as we may not all be women, but we ALL have mothers, sisters, wives, daughters, close female colleagues and friends- and we all should want to promote a world that values equality. In 2024, here is what we as a society who promotes equality need to celebrate in terms of what women now represent: -62% of realtors -61.9% of property management -83.6% of escrow officers -83.9% of interior designers -AND single women homebuyers now have 10.95 million homes, while single men own 8.24 million What a change!!! Here’s to all the women before us who experienced hardship, to all the men and women who fought to change this, and to all the badass females who are proving that equality should exist. 💕 #women #bossbabes #bossbabesunite #womeninternationalday #equality #badasswomen
