What I love about working at e.l.f. Beauty is that we are bold disruptors with a kind heart who want to impact positive change, both within the Beauty industry and beyond. We are purpose-led and results-driven, and our latest purpose-driven campaign is a true game-changer. “Change the Board Game” stems from research which found that men named Richard, Rick and Dick (Dicks) outnumber women and diverse groups on public company boards. It’s not that there are “So Many Dicks,” it’s just that there are so few of everyone else. e.l.f. Beauty has created an inclusive Board of Directors that is 2/3 women and 1/3 diverse, yet we are one of only four, out of 4,200+ publicly traded companies in the U.S. who can say the same. The highest seats of power in the U.S. business community are skewed to those with the most access. In fact, the average U.S. corporate board is 88% white and women make up only 27% of U.S. corporate boards! 🤯 It's time to change that narrative. Scratch that – it’s time to Change the Board Game. 💪 Research has shown that having a diverse board and a diverse executive team is not just the right thing to do, it's smart business. Our track record (including our 20 quarters of net sales growth) backs that up. We believe our diverse board helps us make better decisions, foster innovation and expand our market share because it reflects the diverse communities we serve. This is what happens when corporations are aligned with SSF and PAC and Super PAC. There should be ZERO politics involved in consumer products!! Every company/corporate entity has to be part of them. Why?! This company which I have purchased from is one of the first makeup brands teens purchase due to the low price point. Affordability being the main concern. Now, they are going to push a massive discrimination campaign of inclusivity. Don't tell children how to think! We need female pioneers such as Mary Wells Lawrence to be household names, or taught in school, or at least revered in the industry they lead. I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t know Mary Wells Lawrence though I did know the designer of the I❤️NY graphic. Says it all… We all need to speak out and up about women trailblazers. It's Wintentional Wednesday!!! Brand Bites For Black Women Innovators (and friiiiiends)! 🌻 If you're feeling burnt out, check your alignment. Burnout is the result of long-term drain and repetitively putting into the wrong things that don't feel like they are investing in you. Reciprocity matters even in business relationships. If your mission, vision, and values are out of sync with the work, it may be time to adjust or pivot altogether. 🌻 Make sure to really know your audience. I mean knooooow your audience and sell to the aspirations that they have. Your business is meant to be a welcoming bridge to the life that they want to live. Understand how they see the world so that it's inviting and make sure that you're not creating a bridge to nowhere. 🌻 Be consistent and persistent - allow yourself to grow in the process knowing that the more you show up, the better your chances are to build confidence and increase resources to do better eventually. A man shines, and the woman beside him, just as bright, is overlooked. It's an old story that keeps repeating. It's not just about an award... It's about recognizing worth It's about recognizing talent It's about recognizing contribution equally. The recent buzz around the Oscars, where the man behind Ken is celebrated twice over, while Barbie's brilliance is sidelined, isn't just about movies. It's a reflection of the patriarchal systems that have been built by men for men. But here's the thing - Ken will never be Kenough on his own. The world was never meant to be built by just one half. This is a wake-up call. It's a push for every woman who's ever felt: overlooked, undervalued, or underestimated. It's fuel for the fire of those ready to step into their power, go after the leadership role, start their own business, and rewrite the rules. The world won't change on it's own. We're in this together, building a future that honors all contributions, that sees Ken and Barbie as equals, that knows we're better off together. It's time to go get the bag, to build, to lead, and to show that when we come together, there's nothing we can't achieve.
