It's not just the UK weather that's hotting up. Big things are happening here @FSEW. Today we're on our way to the @multimodal awards in Birmingham where FSEW has made it through to the Finals of the Sustainability Company of the Year Award. Our green journey is an integral part of our business. Over the past 18 months we've operated no tail pipe trucks successfully. It's not been without it challenges and we recognise the barriers faced by many operators as seen in the recent article in @MotorTransport. We've made this work by changing the way we operate. We've great data back from the trucks and are preparing for our next no tail pipe chapter. Zero emission fleets don't come without their barriers and expense but we're running electric and CNG trucks and making it commercially viable. It's not an impossible challenge and zero tailpipe technology is helping to decarbonise freight. It is encouraging to see that this topic (#tire wear abrasion particles in the environment) is gaining attention with a special focus on identifying effective solutions. It has been more than 3 years that our report on behalf of the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN addressing this issue by including the quantification of tyre wear particles in #airborne #dust at two Swiss air monitoring stations has been published (https://lnkd.in/dYRsFqu). And more than 2 years since our scientific publication proposing the SEM/EDX single particle analysis coupled to #machinelearning for tire wear particle (#TRWP) identification and quantification has been published in Science of the Total Environment (STOTEN) (https://lnkd.in/dppSvT6A). Having the first to market, only actively running Automated tracking, calculating, reporting and 100% compliance outcome solution for the Warehouse Indirect Source Rule, #scaqmd (South Coast AQMD), sheds light on how vast the market and need is. The ISR/WAIRE Program aims to reduce nitrogen oxide and diesel particulate matter emissions in neighborhoods near industrial properties. Motions are being made across California to add an Indirect Source Rule as well, one of them being in San Diego, CA.
