Social media scams are on the rise. The goal is to hijack your page and steal personal information using deceptive messages and links. One such prevalent scam targets Facebook page owners with fake notifications about their page being disabled. This alarming new message has been going around Facebook threatening to disable pages if they don’t give personal information to “verify” their account. The message tells users they posted content on their page that misleads users and that their accounts will be disabled if they don’t confirm their account details, including personal information. They’ll tell you to click on a link, and then ask you to enter personal information to verify that you are really the “actual Facebook user”. You click and then they have your data including your personal info and even your payment method. They will even lock you out of your own account! #facebookscam #facebook #scammers #scamalert #socialmedia Read More: https://lnkd.in/e44VivJZ

#saturdaystats Spam bots, also known as spam or fake accounts, are automated profiles that mimic real-life user behaviour to spread content. Most are powered by computer programs and operate with little to no human involvement. Spam bots are common on all major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and web forms. Most consumers simply delete or ignore spam, but nearly one-third are taking action. Many platforms use CAPTCHA tests and other registration requirements to weed out bots and ensure users are human. Reporting spam is how every user can join the fight against spam. Reporting spam can both improve your own filter and make life harder for spammers. #spam #socialmedia #website • • • • • #hrichnetworks offers exclusive digital media strategy and consultation services to our clients; we are here to help you expand your digital footprint online. >>>>> https://buff.ly/2Nmz4eX

Check the status of your FB page (*see link). Then, if all looks ok, you can report the message then block / ban the profile. Contact us if you need help. * https://bit.ly/3TPZHJ2 https://lnkd.in/gxWUQ3vK This goes for your Google My Business Maps listing as well. Scammers will call you and say your listing is in violation of blah blah blah. Don't fall for it. #GetAWebsite #BeSeen #TheWebsiteGuy https://bit.ly/3xiiZzf

Spotting a Facebook Scam! The emails, direct messages, and tags are getting SO good now. Here are things to watch for: 1. Email from a NON-Facebook address. Facebook will only mail you from their email addresses here: https://lnkd.in/eReSXWxn Typically either fb.com or facebookmail.com 2. Bad grammar. Facebook doesn't use bad grammar. 3. Urgency or things will be shut down in 24-48 hours. Facebook does not give warnings like that. 4. A requirement that you fill out a form that isn't on a Facebook property. If it something related to your Facebook Ad account, any appeal or request can typically be done within your Facebook Ads Manager. 5. Tagging your page or DM-ing you with the message. Take a look at the source and be suspicious! These types of scams can cause you to lose your Page, your Profile, or your Ad account because you give them passwords or details about you and they take over your accounts. If you've been a victim, change your passwords immediately. When in doubt, you can report the message to Facebook at [email protected] Get all the details here: https://lnkd.in/eJdsYC5W #facebook #facebookmarketing

Fractional CMO leading multi-generational businesses with tiny marketing departments toward a stronger brand voice, better-aligned team and higher-paying clients. May or may not tell you what you want to hear.
Facebook Business Page spam is getting completely out of control with constant messages from fraudulent accounts posing as official ones that a "page is about to be deactivated unless we hear from you." This stands to unnecessarily freak people out. It's on Facebook to fix this but until then, folks like me are taking out the trash on behalf of clients on a daily basis now. FYI, this is done in your Settings where you can Ban accounts from reappearing, which is the good news. Also why you should not have a dozen different admins on a page. #facebookbusinesspage #facebook
