Craft beer training for people like me… who are more of a wine drinker is so important. Being comfortable talking about the different types of beers is the first step for PERSONALIZED sales where the guest knows they have someone they can trust to recommend a beer!

What if I told you your team has more in common with yeast than you'd like to admit? 🙃 "Hang on there, mister, my team is composed of highly professional and motivated individuals who are most certainly not single-cell organisms" you might say, and you be correct. Or perhaps you be not wrong. Back in a day Google run an extensive research on what makes an effective team (Project Aristotle, link in first comment), where they identified 5 pillars of effective teams. Let's see how many points yeast can score on this matrix. 1️⃣ Psychological safety - team members feel safe to take risks and be vulnerable in front of each other Well, I am pretty sure if the yeast had psyche, they'd value this too. At their current state, they value physical safety. Just as humans do. Will give them 0.5 points here. ⚗ 2️⃣ Dependability - Getting things done on time to the high bar of excellence Absolutely. Yeast produces what they are expected to produce to the best of their capability and they rely on each other working towards the same goal. 1 point for yeast. ✅ 3️⃣ Structure & Clarity - Team members have clear roles, plans and goals Spot on. Every cell "knows" what it is supposed to do, and also how to do that. Another point here. ✅ 4️⃣ Meaning - work is personally important to team members As much as I love yeast, I doubt they sit in the tank at the end of the fermentation wondering whether the whole thing was worth it at all. That would be a zero ❌ 5️⃣ Impact - team members think their work matters and creates change Yeast's work definitely creates change. In the end of the day, it's yeast that transforms wort into beer. A solid point to team Yeast. ✅ So, yeast would get 3.5/5 team effectiveness score. Not bad, for a single-cell organism, right? More to the point, just like it is up to the good brewer to provide the best possible conditions for the yeast so succeed (adequate temperature, proper nutrition, sufficient oxygen, healthy cell count), it is up to the good manager to provide the best possible conditions for the team to be successful. 💁♂️ This is what we briefly touch on together with Marco Boaro from Dimont Brewery and Brian O'Connell from BeoirFest 🍻 #management #team #brewing #success #google
Do you shout or whisper to your yeast? Fat Walrus and Birra Dimont take opposite approaches, but each has tradition behind them. #yeast #brewing #tradition #superstition #beer #beerchat #beerpodcast
