The legal team I have headed at LEKOIL Limited across several jurisdictions for over a decade, has always had a high female representation. That team has been responsible for assisting the Company in making some record-breaking achievements at “cheetah-speed”, including completing an IPO on the LSE within three months, acquiring, divesting and operating various assets, fending off a hostile takeover… I could go on, but that’s not the point for today.
My team has also had an all female representation from different generations and cultures. Not intentional, just a happy coincidence. While one might argue that this seems somewhat non-inclusive, it at the very least, negates that false stereotype that women cannot work well together. It breaks the bias that women can not lead other women effectively. We not only work extremely well together, we break boundaries and achieve incredible results.
So, I would encourage companies, firms, institutions… take advantage of a benefit that is readily available, include and truly encourage more women in your teams today.
