Great article in Resident Advisor about Levellr Today. "If we think about traditional social platforms, ultimately they're broadcast media," said Tom Gayner, the CEO of Levellr, a company that works with labels like Def Jam, Atlantic, Warner and Island, claiming to help artists and brands cultivate community online. "You are Tweeting at, Instagramming at, TikToking at your fans. Yes, they can comment below, but it's still hierarchical," he added. "Platforms like Discord, we can all speak, we can all engage with each other, and that creates a platform for genuine community." Awesome to see Levellr making 🌊 in the music industry. New verticals are next (gaming, sports, etc). Hit me or Tom Gayner up if you are interested! Tom Gayner Ben Barbersmith 🚀🧨

I got the chance to collaborate with Google on my TikTok and Instagram to talk about their “Shared List” feature on Google Maps! It is the perfect tool that lets you save restaurants, stores, or parks and add them into a list that is collaborative with your friends or family. With the music festival season in mind, Google gave me the chance to showcase these wonderful features on my platform while road tripping to the desert! I am so beyond grateful to work with Google and their team, and cannot wait to create more content with them. Be sure to check out my video campaign with Google Maps below! #GoogleMapsPartner

When I think about the focus for the majority of the creatives I work with, it’s all about building community and a core audience. In the old music ecosystem (pre-digital) creatives wanted to grow an audience wide because it was about selling in high volume. Now that indie creatives have the ability to go direct to their audience it’s about having true and genuine relationships that are consistent and create opportunities to grow deep and create long term sustainability via a core audience and community. When supporters feel that deep connection they often are willing to give even more to see their favorite creatives be the best they can be. #supportindiemusic #makeadifference #musicbusiness #musicmarketing #buildingcommunity #coreaudience #growingdeep #ncourage #nspire

Indeed... Sh*t Just Got Real But what does it actually mean when a giant like Universal Music, currently holding 30% of all Contracts, pulls music from a huge platform like TikTok? Nobody said it better than Rick in his video: this is probably a short-lived power move since both companies really need each other at the moment. I hope, though, that this may have positive effects for artists in the not-too-far future. More social media platforms have to accept the fact that a huge part of their popularity, revenue and far-reaching influence stems from the usage of creative content. It is only fair if the platforms pass some of their revenues on to the artists who actually gave them the basis for creating the content. This is the old GEMA vs. YouTube story all over again but with different players and in a different territory on a MUCH bigger scale. I am curious to see, how this one plays out. https://lnkd.in/ettTzU9q
