Long appreciation Post! I was overwhelmed and have some much appreciation for Ochsner and LSHP organization! THANK YOU FOR RECOGNIZING ME AND MY SERVICE TO PHARMACY INDUSTRY I mean no one ☝🏽 will ever have me think differently when it comes to the leadership I have had at Ochsner over the past 11 years and the current leadership I work with now ! Everyday will not be easy but it’s the support and generosity shown to me ! I have one of the BEST LEADERSHIP TEAM AND AMAZING CO WORKERS; they all push me support me and tell when I’m right are wrong or right ! When I tell you they all showed up for me I’m so forever grateful! Thursday and Friday were AMAZING; I’m so appreciative . Not only did I have my work family and there were many pharmaceutical representatives that came to show LOVE ❤️! There were many text calls and emails that I received. I’m forever grateful to my leaders ! Shoutout and love to Debbie -Chief Pharmacy Officer , Ryan Pepper AVP and Aeree - Director Jason Chou VP ! Thank you all for believing in me ! 🌟 Strategic Leadership in Healthcare! 🏥 Recently I had the privilege of attending a gathering of over 20 esteemed Medical Provider leaders, all assembled to delve into the realm of strategic leadership in the healthcare industry. Sue Birch Reinoehl, FACHE and Kimberly Hatchel, DNP, MHA, MSN, RN, CENP, who represent Bronson Healthcare system encompassing a staggering 8,000 staff, including 1,800 medical providers, graced us with their invaluable insights on the topic of strategic planning and development. Their experience and wisdom left an impact on all of us, shedding light on the complexities and nuances involved in steering a successful healthcare institution. One particular takeaway that resonated with me was the significance of bringing together subject matter experts, individuals with institutional knowledge, and those connected directly to consumers. This collaborative approach to advising strategy fosters a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities the healthcare industry presents, allowing for more informed and strategic decision-making. I must extend my deepest gratitude to the leadership team at Bronson for their diligent efforts in developing a robust process for vetting potential strategic decisions. The leadership development opportunities that the Iowa Pharmacy Association provides to foster the growth of pharmacists is a testemant to the investment in the pharmacy profession. As staff, one of my favorite events we host in collaboration with the Pharmacy Society of Wisconsin is the Decker-Temple Leadership Pharmacy Conference. The 2024 applications are being reviewed as we speak with announcements to come in April. Twenty pharmacists, ten each from Iowa and Wisconsin, are selected to participate in this unique experience. The retreat is designed to provide an unequaled opportunity for pharmacists in their first fifteen years of practice to develop leadership skills which will enable both personal and professional growth. Each year the highly competitive application pool draws in diverse backgrounds from pharmacists including, inpatient, ambulatory care, community, both large chain and independent, and managed care to name a few. One activity that participants do at the end of the conference is write a letter to their future self without any knowing of when that letter will arrive. I’ve enjoyed each year when that mysterious letter from my past self resurfaces and makes its way to my mailbox at just the right time. I’d like to share my letter from last year with you to help you surf the waves of life knowing that the Iowa Pharmacy Association is in your corner. “Dear, What can I say and what should I say. The year hasn’t been easy and honestly I'm tired of saying “this is the hardest or worst year of my life." There’s low lows but there’s also high highs, it’s important to understand that you will need to surf those waves to keep moving forward in life. Even the best of the best surfers fall and get wiped out, but they get back up ready and wiling to surf the waves of life. I encourage you and hope you continue to surf these waves. Don’t slip under.
