As 2024 gets underway, the world is not on track to achieve the health-related targets of the #sustainabledevelopmentgoals. While maternity mortality has dropped 34% worldwide from 2000 to 2020, in 2020 it was estimated 287,000 women globally died from a maternal cause, many of which are preventable. NEW! Connecticut and Pennsylvania are part of a growing number of states implementing maternity-focused payment models—including value-based payment — as one approach to improve maternal health outcomes. Maternal mortality has steadily increased in the U.S. over the past decade. With more than 40 percent of all births nationwide paid for by Medicaid, alternative payment models are one tool that may help states improve maternity care and address the maternal health crisis. We highlight Connecticut and Pennsylvania’s approaches to designing maternity-focused value-based payment models in our latest blog post. https://loom.ly/fipbA_0 #MaternalHealth #MaternalMortality #PaymentModels #MaternityCare
