An early start this morning on Radio Wales talking about the economy and hospitality. I forget I am getting old.
It's not great out there, we all know that, but now is the time for us all to try and work together to protect what could be a great industry again. For those of you visiting Wales for your summer hols, now is the time to find the very best of Welsh Beer, cider and of course, Wine, and let's not forget the great Licensees of Wales.
It is not great out there for sure, but we can still show our visitors the great Welsh Welcome, and whilst tourism and Visit Wales could learn a trick from our Irish Friends, the rest of Wales is great. Even the rain.
So as the suits and Civil servants head off for the summer hols, we in the industry need to get in shape for what is going to be a long hard winter.
Now is the time for us brewers to launch the Brewers of Wales as the new home of Welsh Brewing a place where consumers can find great beer, all the way from Wales! We need to be strong in numbers, and excellent at what we do. Now is the time to put Welsh Brewing at the very top of the Uk beer market, and for us to show how we can be innovative, and market leaders. There can be no cap fits all solutions for the industry, but we can help all of our brewers to achieve individual goals and train the young brewers of the future. With 16-19-year-old unemployment at an all-time high here in Wales, now is the time for us to show Vaughan Gethin and the Ministers of Wales, that their plans are not working and what we want them to do to put it right. Let's build a great brewing workforce and give the young a sense of purpose.
