Nurses truly make the difference at Cohere Health, so we're extremely proud to celebrate #NationalNursesMonth in May. ❤️ The American Nurses Association's 2024 theme is "Nurses Make the Difference," which "honors the incredible nurses who embody the spirit of compassion and care in every healthcare setting." Throughout the month we'll introduce you to some of our incredible nurses; they'll share their thoughts on what the #nursing profession means to them and what inspires them to work in #healthtech. 💜 We're excited to kick things off with Dana Clark, RN, Nurse Reviewer!

One of the first people to make me feel seen and believed after my traumatic childbirth experience was a nurse. Twelve years ago, I almost died giving birth in America in one of the best in Washington, DC. After 33 hours of labor, (3 of which were spent pushing), a 104 degree fever, doctors declared I needed an emergency C-section. But when I got to the operating room, the doctor there didn't believe that I was in pain. He wanted me to "prove it" to him by demanding I get from the stretcher to the operating table by myself-- unassisted. Obviously I couldn’t, the doctor had no choice but to believe me. That day, both my baby and I almost didn’t survive. I am grateful to be here today but what I am really grateful for was one nurse in particular. In the days and months after a traumatic birth and becoming a new mom, everything was a blur but I was determined to try to find out what the hell happened during my delivery. There was one nurse I spoke with who told me my doctor was “notorious” and was verbally abusive to female patients in the delivery room. She confirmed all my worst fears but she also gave me my sanity and the assurance that I had not imagined anything. It was not “in my head.” This week as we celebrate #nurses, let’s remember how nurses are not just the backbone of the healthcare industry. They are often the first person patients interact with, the ones asking questions and checking your vital signs. 👩⚕️ Women comprise almost 70% of health-care workers globally and nearly 90% of the nursing and midwifery workforce. 👩⚕️ Nursing has been portrayed as a feminine occupation since Florence Nightingale's nursing training in the mid-nineteenth century . 👩⚕️ Male nurses are more likely to work at inpatient hospitals and more likely to negotiate their salaries. 👩⚕️ According to the National Library of Medicine (NLM), 35% of nurses reported burnout. (Source: Incredible Health). Despite doing the bulk of the world’s caretaking, women’s health still remains an afterthought. This #NationalNursesWeek, take a step to change that. #WomensHealth is not an issue that just effects women but ALL of us! #womenshealth #healthcare #thepaingappodcast #nurses
Today, and every day, we celebrate you! During #NationalNursesWeek, we’re recognizing the role of nurse practitioners in our healthcare system, including the 13,000 WHNPs making a difference each day. With advanced education and extensive clinical training, nurse practitioners have the skills and knowledge to provide comprehensive care to patients. The recent recognition of nurse practitioners being ranked No. 1 in the 100 Best Jobs of 2024 by U.S. News & World Report further highlights the impact nurse practitioners make in shaping healthcare and society. Your care, contributions and sacrifices don’t go unnoticed. The work you do makes a difference in the lives of so many. Thanks, Janessa for this great overview of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of nurse coaches and what they offer not only to clients but to the healthcare system at large. Some nurse coaches offer 1:1 coaching as well as group or team coaching. If anyone is interested in finding out more, check out The CIINDE's program that Janessa highlights in her post (the first of its kind as far as I know in Canada). #nursecoach #nursecoaching

It’s National Nurses Week!! 🧑⚕️ ❤️ 🩺 We want to give a special shoutout to nurses everywhere for working tirelessly day and night to save lives, provide amazing care and comfort to those who need it most. While nurses deserve recognition every day of the year, this week it is especially important to shout out and recognize their efforts not only because they deserve it, but because they need it. So, find time this week to say thank you to a nurse in your life. Whether it’s a colleague, a loved one or a friend, let them know how much you appreciate all of the tireless work they do. 🫶 If you need inspiration, swipe left for some recognition messages for nurses!! #healthcare #nurseappreciation #nurseweek #healthcarehr #nursing #employeerecognition #healthcarehero #nurses

“Nurses are naturally very good mediators. We're very good negotiators. We're very good salespeople. We can do forty-seven things at once. We're competent beyond the credit we give ourselves." – PK, RN. Nurses are the ultimate multitaskers, equipped with a diverse skill set that extends far beyond the clinical setting. As registered nurses, we understand the importance of earning the trust and confidence of those we serve. By leveraging our innate skills, we can continue to elevate the standard of care and make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. #PK #PKScheerle #Nurse #NurseLeadership #NursesRock #TheFutureistheNurse #UnlockingPotential

It's Nurses Week 😁 – Time to Celebrate and Reward our Healthcare Heroes! 👩⚕️ Nurses Week began on May 6 and ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, the founder of nursing. If you're familiar with the healthcare industry, you know the immense respect and affection we have for our nation's caregivers – nurses. 👨⚕️ Nobody works harder than nurses, and nobody makes more of a difference in people's lives than these dedicated professionals. Nurses are absolutely essential to what makes healthcare the best it can be – the care that patients need and deserve. Whether in 🤕 hospitals, 🤧 clinics, 🛌 home settings, or any other healthcare facility, nurses are the backbone of our healthcare system. We're not the only ones who love nurses. As the good people at Nursesweek.com said, "Everybody—and we mean everybody—loves nurses! Americans 🧡 love and trust their nurses. Every year, for 17 straight years, nurses rank at the very top of all professionals for ethics and honesty, according to Gallup. In fact, nobody else even comes close, with 84 percent of Americans giving nurses a top grade! #homecare #homehealthcare #nursefirst #nurse #travelnursing #hospicenurse #nurseleadership #teamwork #communication

The nursing shortage is a critical issue facing the healthcare industry, and some believe that one solution is to attract more young people to the profession. Proponents of this approach argue that younger nurses are often more tech-savvy and adaptable, and they can bring fresh perspectives to the field. However, others worry that young nurses may not be mature enough to handle the emotional toll of the job. What do you think? Is healthcare ready to embrace more young nurses? #nursing #healthcare #workforce
