Chris G.’s Post

After nearly 15 years in 2 separate employment periods, I have recently decided to leave Google. I must leave now, while my body and mind are still able to cash the check’s my imagination is working to write! It’s been a fantastic ride, made sweeter through all the incredible colleagues I’ve had the pleasure of working with. When I think back across my time, the overwhelming feeling is one of gratitude and appreciation. It was a privilege to work in AdTech at the beginning of online advertising. First in Search marketing, then programmatic display, then across multiple channels and then multiple devices driven by the smartphone. And then another to be able to pivot into Google Cloud only possible because it was within the same company. Finally to have the opportunity to work with some of the fastest growing startups in the SF bay, most recently in the buzzy GenAI space - MosaicML (now Databricks), Tomato.ai, Fiddler AI, etc… Thank you to Brandon Paine for hiring me into the company, once in San Francisco and once in London. Thank you to Damian Lawlor for letting me stay the second time even though I was re-org’ed out of a job for 3 months. Thank you to Rory Brachner for working with me as I navigated the managerial ropes at Google in DoubleClick. And thank you to Matt McNeill for enabling an AdTech seller to come over to the Cloud Sales team. Thank you to Thomas Gourand 🇫🇷, Chris Klayko and Umesh Vemuri who hired me into Cloud Sales management in SF while I was on a sabbatical around the world (and to Matt again for enabling that)! Most recently I must thank Darren Mowry and Eric M. for their patience and understanding as I was aggressively working to improve our organization, and for their wonderful send off as I head out into the world on adventures. I’d like to extend my deepest thanks for all of the other travelers on this journey with me. Whether it was mentors, managers, colleagues, reports, customers or partners, you have all had a profound impact on me. I hope our paths cross again and I can someday repay the favor. Chris G. - you were fun to work with... An amazing partner that higher the bar constantly asking for more while giving his whole. I was a pleasure to work with you and I hope we can touch base soon ( as I'm also retired for a while 😉). Wishing you to do mostly what makes you feel proud and happy and have to thank you again for my small part in your journey ❤️
