What do we think about companies laying off massive teams of content designers and UX writers and then hiring for the same roles? What's the deal? Being reminded one year later that content debt is real and here to take your users away? Anyway, there's never been a better time to do some freelance/consulting UX Writing content design. I've been doing it lately and managed to help many companies in their massive efforts of paing their huge compounding content debt. That's what happens when you get into debt; you'll have to pay it back later and add the interest fee.

I feel like I've seen a rise in contract or freelance #contentDesign roles lately. This signals to me that companies are preferring #content to be a more reactive role. They can see the value in content roles when their users are frustrated or when engagement is down. This puts us in a position to "fix a problem" instead of "prevent a problem." Content design, #contentStrategy, and #UXwriting seem like the easy roles to cut when things are going right. But that's the thing about #UX-adjacent practice areas: they should be invisible when they're done correctly.

The start of 2024 is going to look different, literally. I'm going to focus on drawing and painting full-time while I freelance part-time. We could work together if you need... 1.
