After 23 years, I have decided to move on to new challenges.

In this final post, I want to delve into the challenges I've faced as a full-time student juggling multiple responsibilities and how I've learned to overcome them. Time management has been a significant hurdle. Balancing studies, learning new skills like coding and cooking, and helping others has been a test of my resilience and determination. However, I've learned that it's not about having no difficulties, but how you respond to them. I've discovered that it's okay to take breaks and rest when needed. It's not a sign of weakness, but a necessary part of maintaining my mental and physical health. Moreover, I've realized that life is never easy, but the rewards of persevering through the hard times are immense. The satisfaction of coding my first program, the joy of cooking a delicious meal, and the fulfillment of helping others have all made the journey worthwhile. As I continue my journey, I aim to keep growing and learning. This experience has taught me the importance of resilience, self-care, and the power of doing good. It's been a challenging yet rewarding journey, and I'm excited to see where it will lead me next.

A few LinkedIn connections over the past few years have changed my life I started reaching out to almost anyone and everyone I thought could help me out when I was stuck, confused, stressed, and burnt out - looking for a way to unfuck my life. You see, when you are no one, it’s hard to get noticed. Hard to initiate a connection because obviously I hardly have anything to offer. Or so I thought. And in that period, despite the rejections and getting ghosted innumerous times, I continued reaching out and connecting, not with the intention of gaining something from them, but to build something meaningful. How does that happen, especially when you don’t share similar education or work backgrounds? You find a common ground before you elevate to a higher ground. This, in simpler terms, has helped me build a few but really strong relationships with people who share similar values and principles and are working toward achieving similar outcomes in their lives. This is what I call building my chosen family. People who are a part of my team. People with whom I love playing the game. I had no control in the place and people I was born into. But it’s a hundred percent my responsibility to create the environment I want to be live and work in. Yes, I can get a lot done by myself, but I have learned that to create something significant, sustainable and profitable, it’s better to have a good team around. So I continue reaching out and meeting new people on a very regular basis. I have built this in to my routine over the years. The rejections and ghosting are still an important part of the process. But it’s no longer tied with my self image and the value I know I am adding to my team and my family. If we have personally connected, even once, or if we are growing and building something together, I am grateful to you - for your time and energy.

Thank you. As I sit here by myself reflecting on what has been an insane week of emotions, the feeling that comes to top is gratitude. I started my week getting laid off. Tears were shed. Ice cream was consumed. Maybe a little tequila. But here is what I know... Not only do I not have the luxury of dwelling on a setback, but I don't want to. Wallowing in self-pity, playing the blame game, or falling into depression doesn't serve me. Or my children, for that matter. First, I am grateful for my LinkedIn network. Seriously, you guys are the BEST. The time I have dedicated to cultivating these relationships has paid off ten-fold. I was, and continue to be, presented with amazing potential opportunities. Not only that, but I had meaningful conversations with people just offering insight into my options. I will go into next week with a two-part plan. First part is focusing on conversations about potential consulting work that I can do and deciding if that is a long-term or short-term plan. Second part is continuing to explore potential permanent positions with no pressure to make a decision until it feels right. I am so grateful for those of you (basically strangers) who took the time to talk me through this. It brings to mind one of the quotes that has continually motivated me, which I am attaching here. I never want to be someone complaining about a situation I can improve. This is my challenge to overcome and I am happy to do that with a great support system. So please know that if you liked, shared, interacted, reached out, anything on my behalf this week, that I am humbled and so grateful.

Today is my last day at AT&T.  I do not have a drawer of old company IDs to share. What I do have are accomplishments over the last 34 years I am very proud of.  Scaled a couple solutions into billion-dollar businesses, instituted deeper insights through complex analytics into our marketing ROI, stood up new go-to-market channels that drove millions in revenue growth. What I have is the profound gratitude for the wisdom gained from working with those on my team, my colleagues, bosses, and partners both internal to AT&T and outside…all who made me smarter and a better leader as a result. But most of all, I have found some lifelong friendships through my time here.  Those who made work fun and whom, without fail, make me full-on laugh out loud whenever we are together. Next? I will look to continue to do what I love and do best…help organizations evaluate, enable, and scale alliances and partnership to drive growth.   Reach out if you can use the help.  Or if you know of someone who does, tell them “you know a guy”. I’ve worked with very large businesses with surprisingly small social circles.  So, for most I suspect this is not goodbye but so long and see you soon.

It's my 32nd birthday!😃 I'm grateful to God for everything in my life: ¬ my beautiful and lovely wife and family, ¬ my supportive friends and community here on LinkedIn, ¬ my clients on LinkedIn who trusted, hired me and also recommended me to their networks, I'm so happy and deeply grateful. Here are some 15 lessons I've learned in life along the way: 1. The biggest difference between success & failure is getting started. 2. The second biggest difference between success & failure is persistence. 3. 99% of people are out for themselves, even if it doesn't appear so. 4. Comparing yourself to others is the easiest way to get distracted by yourself. 5. The most important skill to learn is how to learn on your own. 6. Getting 1% better at something means leaping millions. 7. Everyone has knowledge that other people can pay for. 8. 10% of people will hate what you do, no matter what. 9. If you can't teach yourself, you'll always be a liability. 10. Don't spend time with people who don't reciprocate. 11. You won't do anything special without risk. 12. Time is the greatest asset. 13.
