Thrilled to announce a significant step forward to reach climate impact We signed a collaboration and supply agreement with Svante to further advance commercial-scale solutions for direct air capture. A crucial part of the direct air capture process involves filter material trapping CO₂ from the ambient air. Svante Technologies Inc. (Svante), will provide Climeworks with contactor blocks incorporating first-of-its-kind filter technology. “By using advanced filter structures such as co-developed by Climeworks and Svante, the efficiency of Climeworks' DAC plants can be further increased”, says Jan Wurzbacher, Co-Founder and Co-CEO of Climeworks. “We are focusing on massive growth of our carbon removal technology to create climate impact. Julian Stephan and myself had the pleasure to be part of the ENVOCONNECT conference yesterday in Bremerhaven. It was great to meet so many interesting people of the maritime industry and the different approaches on the way towards a carbon neutral industry. Nevertheless, for me personal the focus was to much on the big topics (usage of renewable energy sources within the terminal operation or alternative fuels to operate vessels even greener), which needs a lot of upfront investments and also a lot of time for the implementation. Don’t get me wrong, we need these investments to transform the maritime industry. But we have also so much untapped saving potentials by avoiding unnecessary emissions (92Mt. p. a.), which are produced by the “Hurry up and wait mentality” of the industry. The only thing you need to tackle these potentials, is the openness of the industry to use port call optimization platforms, which easily enable Just-In-Time arrivals. And these platforms are already on the market without any heavy upfront investment. #heyport #portcalloptimization #JIT
