Great initiative by Hafnia and SpaceX teams. Most likely many more shipping 🛳️ companies are following suit 🏃♀️here in nearest future Now, after more and more 📈 companies will start using the #Starlink terminals, will it also help shipowners use the full power of AI, such as xAI, and make the ships “smarter” 🧠 ? Then all the AI “brain power” can help to predict the failures of equipment, plan the maintenance, share data directly with manufacturers to get first hand knowledge and support, bypassing all the middlemen with zero emails 📧 and calls ☎️ to explain the problems The only challenge I think of currently is the coverage of Starlink https://lnkd.in/gwh-ExzU, still to reach 💯%, but it will be there soon

Powered by Starlink! Okay not powered but provided internet 😅 I’m not stoked to be supporting Elon Musk (Starlink is a subsidiary of SpaceX owned by him) but when you are working while travelling around Australia it’s the only option. Starlink is a constellation of satellites, and as of March there were 5504 Starlink satellites in orbit 🤯🤯 They transmit signals between satellites to provide internet. The result is that you can get internet (and fast internet) pretty much everywhere in Australia! So far I have found Starlink great, over 6 weeks there have only been two sessions impacted (one couldn’t happen and one kept on stopping and starting 😥) and these were early on. I’ve now figured out better placement of the satellite and also have found Zoom far better with it than Powerdiary which I use at home. The only downsides are that it drains power quickly, which means when off grid we have to keep an eye on how much battery is being drained (we use solar). Of course the other downside is that we have internet anywhere, so the joy of not being able to get reception is gone 🫤 So if you have a session with me while I’m on the road, this is how I’ll be getting internet!

Starlink signs several airlines to implement the onboard internet connectivity. 👇 1️⃣ The current situation with on-board internet is quite dull. The technology has transformed from on-ground stations and satellite switches. 2️⃣ Over the last 20 years, it's undergone a remarkable transformation, and blazing-fast internet on board is now a real possibility. The new hyper-player - Starlink is going to disrupt this industry. Meet Starlink Aviation: 3️⃣ SpaceX's Starlink, with over 5,500 LEO satellites, offers global coverage. Starlink Aviation, launched in Oct 2022, promises speeds of up to 350 Mbps with a small aircraft antenna 😮 (Faster then my cable one) 4️⃣ Monthly price: $25,000 for service + $150,000 for hardware per aircraft. 5️⃣ JSX, a US airline, became the first to roll out Starlink, offering gate-to-gate connectivity. 6️⃣ In March 2023, JSX showcased 100 Mbps download speeds and introduced video telephony onboard, a rare offering. 7️⃣ Hawaiian Airlines, airBaltic, and ZIPAIR Tokyo have signed up for Starlink, with plans to offer complimentary high-speed internet. 8️⃣ Qatar Airways and Air New Zealand are also exploring Starlink connectivity. 9️⃣ The in-flight connectivity market is set to boom, with over 22,000 aircraft expected to have it by 2032. 1️⃣ 0️⃣ Starlink's competitor OneWeb partners with established service providers, while STARLINK is doing a different strategy - goes directly to each airline.
