What are the ways professional sports teams are not always perfect analogies for (non-sport) business teams? 🏀 Some business leaders say that being part of their company is more like being part of a sports team than a family. What's different about the context of a professional sports team to a non-sport business?

🏀 Brace yourselves for some sports talk from the least athletic person you know! But hey, even I can't resist sharing how a basketball legend's teamwork tactics can turbocharge your team to greatness. I do not frequently (read never) talk about sports but last night I was watching this video with Thing #2 and I was 🤯A M A Z E D ☄️. Not just by LaMelos talent but how he worked with his team to make some incredible plays. Consistently ‘serving it up’ to his teammates when he could easily have made Every. Single. Shot. This is what it is like to have a #2, a COO, the A-Team surrounding you. That’s what I kept saying to my son. ‘Look how he works with his team.’ Watch just 30 seconds of this video, his team work gets better in 11th grade, around 7:37 time marker. Here are 3 things that you can do to have a winning team on and off the court! 👆Practice. These kids didn’t just walk out on the game floor and start doing what they do. They had a cadence where they were practicing, coming up with strategies to alley-oop and baseball pass. This looks like a consistent cadence, talking about the RIGHT things and focusing on the important things in an organization. Practice. ✌️Play with a diverse group. A very distinct relationship exists between former Professional Athletes and the organizations they have helped build. With every generation of athletes comes a better understanding of what they bring to the table outside of pure entertainment for the fans and an increased bottom line for the organizations. With that being said, there is a shift within these athlete's mindsets that longs for far more than just a career on the field, court, ice, or pitch, to name a few.
