Global flight bookings have soared by 51%, while hotel bookings have witnessed a 43% surge compared to the previous year's Labor Day holiday. Notably, Chinese outbound customers have displayed impressive growth, with a 178% increase in outbound flight bookings and a 60% increase in outbound accommodation bookings. Top destinations for these travelers include Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, and Malaysia, primarily due to their proximity and visa-free advantages. Taking a closer look at the consumption behavior of our members, we noticed a growing inclination towards 4-5 star hotels and premium accommodation experiences during this period. Timeshare did have a bad name in Asia a long time ago. But times have changed and I can't help but agree with Barry Robinson, an expert in this market, that factors are aligned for timeshare to shine in Asia today. For one, high prices of flights and hotel rooms today make the value of shared vacation ownership more easily measurable and compelling than ever. People are willing to pay upfront to lock in today’s rates for tomorrow’s travel. The membership is also relevant to today’s blended travel, work-from-anywhere world, said Robinson, who leads the Asian expansion of Wyndham Destinations at Travel + Leisure from Singapore. That said, he cautioned the industry not to rush headlong but to use this pivotal moment to work together and build a stronger foundation for timeshare to flourish in the region. As released to the market yesterday, I couldn't be prouder to be leading a region that drove 26% year-on-year growth in revenue over the second half of 2023. Asia Pacific is not only home to a third of SiteMinder's 41,000+ customers; it's home to the fastest-growing part of the world for travel, being Asia. The majority of Vietnamese tourists continued to choose independent travel, which increased by 4.2% compared to the first quarter. The top 3 #OTAs that independent tourists use most frequently are Traveloka, Booking.com, and Agoda, respectively. The percentage of visitors choosing not to change much in both quarters. In the second quarter, the most popular #lengthofstay for independent tourists was 2-3 nights, with nearly 60% of them having such a trip. Here are some interesting details about the hospitality industry when the research team of Statista has a survey about accommodation solutions when traveling by countries as shown in the chart below The survey results show that despite great strides and what is considered a new change in #travel style for young people, #homestay services are still struggling to gain market share from accommodation services such as #hotel in the countries participating in the survey. This is most clearly shown in Japan when the number of tourists choosing hotel accommodations for tourism is more than 5 times greater than the number of tourists choosing short-term rental platforms, which also still increased its annual revenue to roughly $10 billion and net income to $4.8 billion. -------------------------------- As the accommodation service industry continues to develop with technology as it is now, it will create conditions for upgrading payment systems specific to each supplier to always ensure manageability the income and expense more conveniently, and at the same time be able to take good care of your existing customers with attractive incentive programs only on one direct monitoring software. 😂 VUELING DUSSELDORF - BARCELONA Tomorrow is a welcome break; 4 days in Barcelona exploring new areas. Something else to think about before starting our new stage November 1. Agoda has organised a great hotel (Astoria) with a photogenic interior. Will I be allowed to take some pictures? Vueling is a favorite airline and a direct flight is comfortable. TRAVELLERS NORMAL WORRIES: • Will train be on time? • Busy evening at the airport? • Late check-in at the hotel? Hungry? • Keep money and passport safe! • Breakfast behind the corner? • Remember to load phone batteries! Having days off seem like a full-time job😃 Maybe we can travel real time in the future? Without hazzle, sitting in an armchair - enjoying a Spanish dinner. Visiting Rome that way would be reallly great; large screen, no cues and fresh pasta. Heat causing no elevated blood pressure. Having time off is needed from time to time. Returning home, somewhat exhausted, opening the fridge will provide us a welcome daily routine. Will try to send some pictures from the hotel. Travel should leave you satisfied and keep you hungry for more at the same time... I love experiencing new places. I truly get excited with the research, the planning, and the journey but the real treat, obviously, is to get there and delve deep into the local scene. To feel the vibe, get the lay of the land, and savor the flavors of a village, town, or city, I head to the streets. I usually find a local outdoor market or sidewalk cafe and people watch to see which restaurants the locals chose. The same goes for street food vendors. I watch and wait and learn because the locals will always tell you what's safe and tasty or not, just by their facial expressions and attention. Shopping is an art form and watching the locals make their choices of fruits, vegetable, and fresh meat, poultry and/or seafood and then barter for price is something not to be missed (even if I don't speak the language). I'm currently planning an itinerary for a young couple who are self-professed foodies and want to celebrate their anniversary in Bali, Bangkok, and Chiang Mai with a long layover in Singapore... so I'm just sitting here reminiscing about the 6 months that I traveled all over Southeast Asia from November 1, 2018 to April 29, 2019 and the mouthwatering meals that I had along the way. Some of us travel the world to experience a culture through all 5 senses: taste, smell, vision, hearing, and touch. Are you a foodie? We, Indians, will travel more. According to Booking.com, our trips are projected to soar from 2.3 billion in 2019 to an impressive 5 billion by 2030! So what was stopping us before? I could think of two major demand-side contributors: the mindset shift after COVID-19 and the newfound flexibility in the corporate world. - Our mindset has undergone a seismic shift. With the YOLO (You Only Live Once) mantra after COVID-19. People are seizing the opportunity and exploring the world. - Changing companies' policy to a hybrid model and working from home is helping Indians break free from their cubicles.
